As simple as this is I can't get the frigging bike on it.

If I have it on the rear paddock, it just slides backwards as soon as the front lifts.
If I have it on the centre stand, it'll go up, but as soon as i let go, it'll slip forward and potentially make the bike come off the centre stand.

Is there a trick to these stupid things? Ratchet strapping aside.

They are dangerous bastirts.

I stopped using paddock stands years ago after getti g an Abba stand.

If one of the stands cannot roll then you will be fite-ing an hostile battle.

If you have the resolve to listen to this chap.

Think about an Abba stand... Bit of an 'investment' but a joy to employ.

I never scratched paint on any bike using paddock stands and never had help. If you struggle doing it yourself then use another stand.

Sitting the side stand on a bit of 1/2" thick wood straightens the bike up a little leaving hands free.
Always keep a hold of the beast when using any stand.

I got a Sealey Hyd Bike bench years ago. I can use the Abba or my paddock stand on there too.
I hate taking a knee even if it's for a good cause.

Giving a UK company a punt too.

Their Customer Service are proper helpful as well.

Love my Abbastand, I started with their normal stand and superbike front wheel lift, which I've now binned off.

I now have the "Front Lift Arm", used in conjunction with "Moto Glide"

It's perfect in my opinion, easy, quick and secure/stable. Also makes moving my bike to one side of the garage simple.

As you have already said, rear must be supported first. Are you using bobbins and hooks on the stand? If not and you are simply going under the swing arm I can imagine it would slide.

Best bet is either get some hooks and bobbins or an ABBA my friend. (I have had no issued using a headstock stand myself as of yet. Ah jinxed myself now)

If you have a centre stand, use a car jack and a block of wood, gently jack against the header pipes to pivot the front wheel just off the ground. (if you are trying to remove the front end)

Thanks for the suggestions Surprised

Yes these are dangerous bastards, the front one could easily knock the bike down on top of you if it slides too.

The rear one was sliding on the floor, not the swingarm, when I tried to push the front paddock down the rear paddock slid back, like cat and rat kinda thing.

I....just went with the ratched straps to the crash bars...

I have the same sort and I've never had an issue. You are holding the pin into the bottom of the yoke whene you try and put it on the stand aren't you?

My GSXR is sat and has been sat on the same stand since March. I mount the front first because mounting the back compressed the front and was a cock to get the pin in without fouling the nosecone.

I just went on their website mate, that sky stand looks a nice bit of kit. Thinking that money will be eventually parted from me eventually. Laughing

Same here
Getting the stand set up for your bike is important. I had to piss around with the height of it. Now it's set up I'll happily sit my arse on the stand to piss with the front wheel, calipers etc. It's not going anywhere unless you deliberately ram it forwards with some decent force, and only because it'll come off the centre stand first.

I usually put a heavy toolbox sitting on the rear one just to make sure there is no movement too.

So some of you never had a problem Confused hm.
The pin is inserted in the bottom of the yoke yes, then I just pus the stand down, the problem is once down it'll slip forwards, the straps worked fine or this case, but maybe I'm not using it right..

Don't think it was that much when i bought it, iirc i think it was about £80.

Anyway, fucking brilliant bit of kit, use it all the time.

Height is almost certainly wrong. I'll put mine up on the stand later today after work etc, if it's not lashing it down and video it.

Mate, I really like the look of the Abba Stands Sky Lift that MCN showed earlier in the convo, it looks amazing, as soon as I have a garage I am getting me one of them. I love the idea of it, I hate trying to lube and tension my chain off a paddock stand it's such a fucking faff.

Just home, and skies are distinctly grey. See what it's like tomorrow.
