I'm looking to buy my first motorbike here in the UK and not sure if the style I like even exists.

If the picture upload worked, you can see on the right there is a Honda off road bike though that's a 286cc). Even though I want a bike mainly for going on 20 - 100 mile on road trips, I love the aesthetic of the off-road bikes.
The 'Adventure bike' on the left looks nice and is probably more comfortable, but I'm going for a 125cc and I don't know why the 125 bikes look so big and bulky and heavy. Also the high and bulbous gas tanks between my torso and the handle bars really annoy me. These bikes look so lumbering and the off road style bikes looks very agile so that's more attractive to me.

Most of the 125cc models I can find here in the UK (find but not buy as there is an almost total shortage at the moment) are similar to the Lexmoto one on the left in the picture. The Lexmoto Adrenaline or the Super Moto are the closest I can find to the look of an off road bike.

Can anyone recommend any 125xx bikes to me that come close to the look and feel of an off road bike but are still suitable for regular roads.

There is a Honda Varadero that comes in a 125. Pretty rare though.

Firstly the one on the left is not an adventure bike.

Secondly, 125s aren't big and bulky, they are compact and tiny.

The one on the left isn't an adventure bike and like Nobby the Bastard said: both those 125cc motorcycles are tiny! You roll that Lexmoto up beside a Suzuki SV650 (which itself is a compact bike) and it will be dwarfed.

You might like the Sinnis Terrain 125cc:

It's a beauty.
But at 5'11" or 181cm and 230lbs I'm going to be too big for even the big wheel version. They seem to size them for teens.

I also love the Yamaha TT-R125LE but that has the same issues.
Is there any 125 version of these built a little larger?

You won't find a 125 any bigger to be honest.

I'm afraid I can't stand bikes with big, bulbous gas tanks.

You need to go to a bike shop and sit on some 125's and then you will realise that a YBR (which the left one looks to be a clone of) isn't big at all. It's the first time I've ever heard them called bulbous Laughing
Off road style 125s seem to be hard to find or quite expensive, unless it's Chinese stuff. If you are old enough then do your full license and you will have a lot more options.

Well the 250 version has a road version of it. So I assumed the 125 does also.

Yeah I guess getting a full licence is the way to go.
Though I wanted to get on the road before the end of summer and going the full licence route could take quite some time.

It's unfortunate mate, I started on the road to getting my full license on 09th November 2020 (CBT after waiting since mid August 2020 on a slot) and it's now going to be 31st July 2021 before I finally get a shot at my MOD 2.

Also, a 125 off road style bike will be gone in 60 seconds; the light fingered lot love them.

Maybe get a cheap 125 to use through summer while you do your full license? The extra practice wouldn't hurt either. Something like a yamaha YBR that you can sell quickly and get hold of for about £1k.

I went with the Keeway TX 125cc.
It's got a sort of Honda CRF 300 off road feel to it(even though I won't use it off road) and a nice narrow petrol tank that I like so I think it will be a good first bike for me.
I take delivery in a few days :)
