I've been having neck pain when riding motorcycle.
Playing bowling is ok but playing billiard posture surely worsen my neck, leads to numbness type.
It got worsen and sold YB125SP in 2018 October. Doing physio and stretch etc for 1.5 years, I thought it got better and bought new Serow250 last March, but actually it wasn't perfect yet sadly. After asking for advice here, I bought lighter Full face Shoei Z7(=NXR) last April.
helmet thread
It worked fine for me for a while, but my neck started aching after 60minutes of riding. So my Serow is only 1300km on the clock yet.
I'm not thinking of selling Serow at all. The reason I bought 250 is it doesn't need MOT here, hence not being able to ride doesn't cost me that much. But I want to ride more than 60 minutes, so I decided to go for an experimental purchase. Light jet helmet(crash hat in that thread) plus air neck supporter.
My neck's C5 and C6 disks have a bit narrow gap, not a hernia though.
So I thought light jet helmet will decrease the weight on the neck discs, and air neck supporter will support the weight of the lid surrounding my neck. And I would be able to adjust the air volume by its pump and adjust its height.
Today I tested them for the first time and I could ride about 2 hours without neck pain(It was too hot today and had to stop riding). My experiment seemed to be successful.
The light jet lid is Yamaha brand and not a cheapish one but it's 920g and for small scooters. So I wouldn't go for busy road or motorway with this lid on.
Pros:
relieves my neck pain surprisingly
Supporter supports weight of the lid and avoids stiff shoulder too if the riding position was upright like adventure or offroad or tourer.
wider view than full face Z7
Cooler in hot sunny day than full face Z7
air supporter may work as a neck brace a little bit.
Cons:
I will be potatoed if I crash heavilly in an accident.
Doing lifesaver check with a bit more carefulness.(wasn't that hard though)
I don't suggest this idea for sporty riding.
So I have to ride safely and carefully under the speed limit. Maybe had better avoid busy traffic road too. But I'm happy that I can ride much longer from now on.

Have you considered just putting a big screen on your bike, maybe the wind is adding to the neck ache?
It would look strange on a Serow though... ____________________ Current - '94 VFR750FR, '00 VFR800FI Previous - '10 Street Triple R, '92 MZ ETZ301, '05 TTR250, NSR125R, KMX125, "Honda" Win (chinese copy of an old Honda design with a C90 engine)

Hi, thanks for your advice. Mine has screen from new, and I feel my neck ache comes from vertical stress of helmet weight and vibration.
