Not sure why that’s funny, nor why it’s surprising that a research student should write a paper.

Anyhoo, grinding my gears today was the silly boy in a white Audi A1 (I think) with twin drainpipes making a terrible racket through town. Tone before volume, dude.

It's easy to go off the deep end with the tin-foil-hattery. Focusing on real, provable things Fauci is on record both poo-pooing facemasks as being ineffectual at the start of the pandemic and then doing a complete 180 - one can only assume for political reasons - so as a public figure he doesn't exactly instil trust.

It was more the case that the science didn't support wearing masks at the start. If you remember the UK and the rest of the world (apart from aisa which has had a history of people wearing masks) also changed tack on this as well.

In the beginning it was thought that primary transmission was via people coughing into their hands and then handling door handles etc.

Later it was discovered that droplets were small enough to hang in the air long enough for them to be breathed in by others and now there is strong evidence that it is at least partially airbourne.

I've yet to see any evidence that [ornamental] masks have any effect. Obviously they block large droplets but AFAIK Covid can be carried in very small droplet sizes - think of the huff breathing out on a frosty day.

With regards to Fauci, the public don't seem to like his new documentary. Hardly the new messiah that some would paint him as.

Hardly new as well. He's held his position since at least the early 80s.

Did you know that he was the one that first started warning the US government that aids was going to be a big problem?

I think it comes down to scientists shouldn't do politics and politicians shouldn't do science Smile

Actually the process is scientists give the best advice they can based on the current evidence, then the country's leader decideds whether to follow that advice or not.

There's also cultural stuff as well. Japan is pretty much phobic all over regarding people and thats a big reason its transmission rates temained low despite not locking down. They were already obsessively clean and wearing masks at the slightest opportunity.

So why did it take "other scientists" to tell SAGE and Valence that herd immunity was a laughably bad idea? What extra evidence did they have which SAGE didn't?

Common sense maybe? Laughing

Well that's pretty easy to answer and Nobby pretty much has already but you didn't understand it.

First of all Herd immunity works, what didn't work was the plan to acquire it. Well, it did work but the price was deemed to high.

The original idea was to let Covid work it's way through society but what wasn't understood at that point was that it would kill so many and overwhelm the health care systems of various countries. So the world went into lock down to reduce the amount of infections, infections would still happen but at a lower rate.

As to the evidence for the change in plan, people dying was a bit of a giveaway.

The new way to gain herd immunity is through vaccination but it is still herd immunity.

Remember the heady days before we needed No AIDS Passes to get into nightclubs? Nah, me neither.

AIDS isn't airborne. Were you planning on fucking in the middle of a nightclub?

The herd immunity plan was accompanied by a policy of shielding the vulnerable. That proved difficult (people are awkward sods) and it turned out that some apparently healthy people could still die of it. I’d add that the MSM pushed back against the plan without understanding it. Their constant pot-stirring has done much to drive policy and whatever the outcome it was a win-win for so-called journalism. Shoot the lot of them.

Aside from argumentative forumites .....

Plank in a car coming home from work last night just barged their way through the gap. Horn and revbomb woke the dopey wanker up, txting on their mobile ffs.

Weather 'forecast' also pissing me off - heavy rain and a moist ride home.

Time to go back to the car for the commute until Autumn naffs off and we get to the cold dry days. Hate this damp slippy leafy shite weather.

PS. i reckon the vaccine pass is a way of keeping out the thick, ill mannered, belligerent and uneducated. YMMV

That’s lovely pet, apart from the bit where it wasn’t SAGE who realised their mistake. It took others who knew what the feck they were talking about, to point it out to them.

So what knowledge did they have which SAGE didn’t?
Ask a grown up to help if you’re still misunderstanding this very simple premise.

Now pet, the bit of knowledge they had was hindsight, it's 20:20. SAGE also had it in time as well.

If you can't understand this maybe you should get an adult to explain it to you.

You would have to be very unlucky if you caught AIDS from someone else bleeding near you

Being vaccinated or not makes feck all difference to your ability to spread Covid, even airborne. So, explain what the point of a vaccination pass is?

Vaccines do limit the spread of disease to an extent. It's just not perfectly, though.

Rolling Eyes

Funnily enough, they reckon it's both extremes who don't trust the vaccine. The thickest and the brightest.

Everyone who fell for the two pricks and counting, quarterly large pharma profit scam, will automatically group all those who choose to rely on a working immune system, in the thick group as it justifies their own, often misguided or coerced (I want a week in Magaluf innit) decision as the correct and considered one. Personally, unless you're over 60 and a high risk group, I believe the considered opinion to the the other way around.

Isn't freedom of choice awesome? Maybe painting yellow stars on the unclean will negate the need for 2 pricks and over certificates? Laughing

6ou are conflating people who are unvaccinated with victims for nazi persecution?

You're fucking deranged.
