I watched whilst it was having its starter solenoid taken off. So now I know what one looks like and [kind of understand] why it might be the problem.

The fault with a bike starter solenoid is more often the starter than the solenoid.

But solenoids are easy to bypass so are easy to check.

Broke down on Selby swing bridge

thought i might've run out of fuel cos trip said 160 but in fact the ram air tube had detached from the union

limped it round the corner towards TJ Horrocks and reattached it (& filled up) - my mate had some tools so cable tied it to the union and we f***ed off to squires, as planned

Hi Nobby

Yep standard airbox although I replaced the airbox/carb rubbers with some silicone hose 'stubs' - a while back. I think the prob started after that though.

Spent Saturday fixing my girlfriends scooter that wouldn't idle. Thought it was the carb at first but ended up being the valve clearances being too tight. Really should have checked them last time I serviced it Rolling Eyes

Next on the list is to look at the front brake which I noticed doesn't stop very well anymore and she's complaining that it's randomly lurching forward like the brake is being applied...

Ukraine is certainly an interesting place in certain circumstances. Been there, done that.

Just one image in my mind I can recall is policemen drinking in the petrol stations, smoking, with their apprehended suspect in handcuffs. Laughing

I sent out my ECU for a reflash on Saturday. Tracking said it got to Wiz Performance on Tuesday. ECU returned to me on Today (Wednesday) Very Happy That's some fast turn around!

Apparently I can also drop the O2 sensor. Shame it was so Winnie the Pooh* today otherwise I'd have been out with the spanners. (Have to remove the tank to swap the air intake lid.)

*and the blustery day.

The new starter solenoid got put on and it magically worked.
However, it now appears that the (almost new) battery is flat, so it has been put on a Optimate overnight and then he will come back and do (something, something) next week.
Not sure how the battery got drained so fast Brick Wall

I changed my oil, oil filter and oil filter O-rings. That was a 1500-mile-ish change. The oil was all BLACK. Oh noes! Is something wrong with my bike?! Laughing

Fitted my phone mount and adjusted the clutch and brake levers. All going well, tomorrow I'm fitting the tail tidy
which arrived this afternoon. That gopping great tail piece has got to go, not to mention that bleeding huge number plate.

Yesterday..

Drained carbs on XJ, and replaced part of the gear linkage (rose joint) with a better one.

Removed clutch slave on FZ for painting in a pseudo 1FN style (only silver - cos it's not a 1FN model)

Chucked crash bungs on it. Not often I have a nice enough bike to worry about it.

I need a rat, and VFR may get it. Stonechips reveal it's definately been down the road and repainted, nosecone is red underneath. Was aware it was likely when I bought it.

Expecting them back very soon. Laughing
