Removed chain on the Suzuki- cleaned it, and oiled it- put it back. Went for a ride and got it muddy and water wet again Fun, pleasant ride though. ____________________ CBT: 12/06/10, Theory: 22/09/10, Module 1: 09/11/10, Module 2: 19/01/11

Today (and yesterday) I have been dicking around with baffles.
I'm going to try this out, see what it does. It's obviously just a piece of pipe with a washer tacked on the end I've slid over the original but it'll give me something to work from.

Have a look on eBay/Amazon. Any length, any diameter, dirt cheap (i.e. rusts in seconds) but plenty of material to base things on. One baffle for the week and one for Sunday Best ____________________ Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, Yamaha XSR700, Honda Rebel, Yamaha DT175, Suzuki SV650 (loan) Fazer 600, Keeway Superlight 125, 50cc turd scooter |

Realised when the neutral lamp blew as soon as I put in a replacement, that the bike might be having a charging issue. Yes, was getting 19v. Checked rectifier, that was okay- then plugged in spare 6v 11ah battery- charge back down to 7.5-8v.
So now finally got arond to receiving, and putting in new 4ah battery for the Suzuki and charging is good again. Went out in the night to test, get some ice cream. Realised on the way back home the headlamp bulb was blown. No surprise- the bulb had cream coloured glass. Though headlamp is AC so not entirely sure if the unbalance in the DC system has somehow affected the AC- but I don't think so- just coincidence. Replaced with a spare 25/25w bulb. Well it was either that or the 18/18w bulb... ____________________ CBT: 12/06/10, Theory: 22/09/10, Module 1: 09/11/10, Module 2: 19/01/11

I fitted new handlebars to the Zephyr and then sorted out an issue with one of the carbs not having its airbox rubber fitter properly. Carbs were balanced and the idle reset. Much smoother.
That was followed by a service. Oil and filter changed necessitating the removal of the exhaust system (it's a 4 into 1 that blocks access to both drain plug and filter), new plugs and air filter, brake calliper clean and lube and a general check over. |

Old fella's T140 today:
Previous I stumbled upon the choke being slightly on due to the cable tension/linkage. All our previous efforts at tuning were therefore for naught
Went back to stock jets today albeit with naff pod filters (the original airbox long since AWOL) and the bike started and idled much better. There's a bit of a hiccup approaching mid-range out on the road so needs a tweak of the needle height but we're getting there... ____________________ Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, Yamaha XSR700, Honda Rebel, Yamaha DT175, Suzuki SV650 (loan) Fazer 600, Keeway Superlight 125, 50cc turd scooter |

Used up half a pack of baby wipes and a few squirts of quick detailer cleaning it. Last ride was on 19th December
bringing it home from first service and it was pissing down and blowing a gale. Being a black bike, the 3 mile ride home
was enough to make it look like I'd taken it off road and it's sat in the shed ever since. Looks much more presentable now. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha
