Took the Snarley down to Billingshurst.
All the way down on the A24, nice little ride, even through town
Didn't go up Box Hill on the way. Still never even been up there.
Had a nice roast dinner with some chaps.
Rode home like a demon before the light went, due to noticing that the front headlamp wasn't working ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

Broke out the tyre levers for the Triumph rear wheel. I can see why ppl build a jig for such things, two of us swearing at it for 5 mins ____________________ Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, Yamaha XSR700, Honda Rebel, Yamaha DT175, Suzuki SV650 (loan) Fazer 600, Keeway Superlight 125, 50cc turd scooter |

Offered up the rear wheel to the Triumph after getting it rebuilt. It's to the spec of 1 3/8" height difference between the rim and brake disk surface now, looks much better!
Once the tyre's refitted we might actually have it rolling next week ____________________ Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, Yamaha XSR700, Honda Rebel, Yamaha DT175, Suzuki SV650 (loan) Fazer 600, Keeway Superlight 125, 50cc turd scooter |

Packed my rear bag with all my tea making stuff, strapped my little table and a collapsible chair to the sissy rest and I'm all ready for a little jaunt tomorrow.
Even found a spare handlebar clamp to put my phone case on (then promptly broke it) shite plastic crap.
Gonna find a nice scenic spot for a brew |

The rear wheel is on the Triumph. You can now jump on it and make vroom vroom noises, very important psychologically ____________________ Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, Yamaha XSR700, Honda Rebel, Yamaha DT175, Suzuki SV650 (loan) Fazer 600, Keeway Superlight 125, 50cc turd scooter |

Working on ‘Project Scrappy Hyosung ‘
Working on freeing a very seized front brake.
Much restrained force needed .
It’s coming, slowly, I don’t like using to much force in case something breaks off suddenly .
Charging it’s battery and hopefully it will hold a charge?
EDIT: battery charger went phut! , need to go and buy a new one .
Brake caliper now apart and so far not broken ? ____________________ I am the sum total of my own existence, what went before makes me who I am now! |

Went out on the Snarley to Epping Forest this morning, through light(ish) late-commuting traffic.
Just a little jaunt, about 10 miles, and mostly London dual carriageways.
But its nice to get out in brisk winter days, especially when its a weekday and you should be busy working hard at being serious
Back home by lunchtime to a toasty warm house.
Yay! ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

Nice afternoon/evening - for January anyway - so I oiled up the chain before heading out, probably not done since before Christmas! Glad I got a paddock stand and bobbins on the XSR, so much easier ____________________ Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, Yamaha XSR700, Honda Rebel, Yamaha DT175, Suzuki SV650 (loan) Fazer 600, Keeway Superlight 125, 50cc turd scooter |

Speedo is being annoying again. Thought I licked the non-recording mileage 200 miles ago- and it seems like I have. But now when riding + 30mph the needle wavers excessively and faster than that pins itself to the 80 marker and makes gravel being shook in a bucket noise- mileometer/odometer seems to still record though. Good job I didn't bend down the metal covering yet. Still, not sure what i'll find when I open it back up again! ____________________ CBT: 12/06/10, Theory: 22/09/10, Module 1: 09/11/10, Module 2: 19/01/11

Yeah, I tried that once in my kitchen, didn't go down too well! The bike's at my father-in-law's

Took front wheel off and popped it down the local shop for some new rubber. The incumbent Road 5 was on the wear indicators. Still felt fine though, no dodgy handling.
While the wheel was off I checked and cleaned the brake calipers. The pistons are still corrosion-free after wiping off all the road filth and I ran them in and out a few times with a bit of red rubber grease. No signs of binding.
However the big pad spring in each caliper had some entertaining thick white crust building up behind them. In the right caliper it had pushed the spring out far enough to contact the edge of the disk. Odd since the calipers are anodised and the springs are either stainless or coated. They don't rust anyway. The crusty growth was probably the result of the bike standing unwashed in my garden when the world came to a stop in March 2020. I didn't ride the bike, clean it or make space in the garage for the best part of a year... ____________________ 2007 CBF1000-ABS - Commuter heaven | 1994 CBR600FR - Awaiting defibrillation |
