Found why its fouling the plugs..someone has whacked the CB400 set up on here...

It should be running 72/105 jets, but its running 105/122... plugs are fouling within a minute of full throttle, it starts and runs nice, albeit richer than Jeff Bezos.

Spare carbs have 72/105s so I will swap out tonight Shocked

3,300 miles

That price includes VAT + Ducati labour too. For resale value though, I would only get it done by a Ducati dealer.

Why? who's to know..?

.. unless its a common failure and every one has to be done at some time.

Because that's what I like to do and make sure it's done properly. What's the problem?

It's a £35,000 bike, not going to let some have a go mechanic loose on it.

Put Epoxy over the leaking core plug. Hope it cures the leak because it's pissing me off and epoxy is my last resort. Core plug is new, but previous ownership hasn't been kind to the bike. Previous core plug was installed backwards and got mis-shapen and damaged the seat and recess.

Also swapped around condensors between two bikes back to their repective original machines that I swapped a few months ago trying to find a problem (was coil).
And put new grips on one bike. Now I don't have slipping throttle hand. Always nice Laughing

Also on another bike, cleaned out the front drum of dust to try and remove the annoying squeel... Didn't work though. Tested a replacement throttle cable (didn't fit- too short). Cleaned up contacts on ignition switch and headlamp wiring to eliminate voltage loss (6v system). Worked a little bit but it's not optimum. Rewelded the broken seat bracket. Tuned the carburettor a bit (main needle position and idle/air adjustment). Fitted new grips on this bike too and lubricated throttle tube (throttle cable mechanism inside the bar so can be awkward system).

Still need to replace the chain gaiters and take apart the speedo. A couple of hundred miles ago it started reading 10mph too fast. Ugh.
Might experiment with putting indicators on it at a later date. But.. Part of me thinks what's the point, no one seems to use their indicators these days- I may aswel be a cunt too.

It's called a humblebrag. My wife was an expert at it.

Did nothing to a bike but gave the second hand lid I just bought a once over today, was an absolute mare pulling off
the blue protective plastic on the shiny bits. Had to break out the hairdryer in the end. It could use a new visor but
that's more because of my perfectionism when it comes to clean glasses/visors and the like. I'm in no rush, I'll wait
for a bargain. I have 6 other lids I can wear in the meantime Laughing . Pulled out the liner and gave it a damn good scrub and
then a short cycle in the washing machine. Looks brand new now, was worried the machine might destroy it but it held
up well. It's out on the line as we speak.

Talking of helmets the downside of buying a cheap one is lack of parts. I did manage to replace the hinge plates last year (slight cock up with a visor swap) but looking at a 9 month wait on a replacement liner - mines falling to bits - again, cheap stuff Sad

At the time it was the only helmet that fit comfortably but I think I'll see what new ones are available.

New clutch at 3k? Sounds like he built it.

Sorry, I couldn’t resist. I’m still jealous though.

How badly scored are those basket fingers Shocked

They'll all get markings in them, much less than that in a wet clutch though, but looking at the photos you're not thing to be able to just lightly dress them.

I suspect the basket is expensive being blingy, but contact STM for a list of resellers, you might get one for a few hundred.

As for the steels, and plates, they're done. But not 3k worth of done.

What's to stop this happening again in another few thousand miles though?

The guy must have hammered it on a track before chopping it in. I don't intend on tracking it, just mooching about. I'll sell the cunt before that happens again!

The clutch is £2k + VAT so £2.4k (Direct from Ducati)

Labour takes it to £2.8K + £200 for the slave cylinder which was also blown out to fuck.

Today I did manage to get the back wheel out of ‘Project Scrappy Hyosung’.
Simple you might think,,,,,, not on a bike that’s been lying on it’s side in a hedge for years Shocked !

A rattle gun , penetration oil and a lot of swearing got the job done.
AND I didn’t break anything Smile
Even though the back wheel turned freely, the caliper hung onto the disc for dear life.
Tiny g-clamps compressed the pistons enough to give me wiggle room to get the wheel out, yay!

Replaced manual cam chain tensioner with old automatic one because I think I overtightened the shit out of it. Took it out, basically the same extension as the old automatic one had reached.

In all the excitement of the switch a decent amount of silicone gasket got pushed into the engine.

+ through the course of repeatedly adjusting the manual one i've now given myself a leaking exhaust header.

Went down the local bicycle shop and bought some cable to run a handlebar choke for the old T140. We've come to the conclusion that it likes kicking over a few times (ignition off) with some choke; somewhat simulating the tickler on older Amals. After that it kicks over fairly easily but I'm sure there's more voodoo we're missing to get it to kick first time every time.

Figured out why the back brake was binding: loose foot peg Rolling Eyes Really chunky rubber on these old pegs so it was sometimes pressing the brake down depending on your foot position.
