You know you've posted 3 different bikes? A K era GSX-R600, an SRAD era GSX-R600, and a GSX600F which is basically a Bandit with a square section frame and a jellymould fairing.
What do you want from the bike? Do you want to commute on it? Do you want to do trackdays?
The SRAD (corona colours) is a decent enough bike but it's definitely a generation behind the K1. Its bigger, heavier, peakier and with less peak power. They are essentially classics now. The K1(blue and white 2002 reg) will be a flipping great sportsbike, but it might break your back if you're not as flexible as you once were.
The GSX? Well it's stupid money for a bike that is not very well regarded. They are fat, heavy and not particularly agile. If you got one for £1000 to commute on, I'd say well done, but if you want one to do trackdays on, and you pay that much? I'd be calling the men in white coats unless you really had a reason like your Dad used to race one or some weird emotional attachment like that.
Do you want to work on it yourself? Do you plan to get the suspension rebuilt?
Need more info. ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F

Some other kind soul here mentioned sticking a few quid down on an R1 & scratching the itch but I’ve struggled to find a cheap(er) one.
I want a bike I can have a bit of fun on & see if I can put up with a bit of discomfort while having aforementioned fun!

So you want a supersports to do some hooning on? On the road? Trackdays? Club racing?
What else have you ridden sportsbike-wise? Because if nothing, any of the 600 supersports will blow your mind. Maybe something like a CBR6 which can hoon with the best of them (and hold many a track record) but can also happily do your daily commute or a bit of touring. I got my wife one (early alloy frame model) and it's a really beautifully set up bike that compliments your riding while at the same time calls you a pussy for winding off in the corners.
I'd suggest an R1 would potentially be a bit much if the bikes in your sig are what you've ridden to-date. They are a bit much for me and I've been riding for 30 years. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. If you pay £2200 for a 22k mile Teapot you really are a fool.

It's still a teapot. They were changing hands for £5-600 ten years ago. If you want to "scratch that itch", don't buy one. It's at best what I'd call a "sports commuter".
In their favour, they probably haven't been thrashed and abused and so make for cheap and reliable transport. They aren't bad bikes but if you want a sportsbike, get a sportsbike.
Incidentally, it'll still blow your mind if it's the first bike you've had after passing your test but it's not going to set your world on fire.
You being a new rider is another reason I'm sticking with a CBR6 as my recommendation. They are thoroughly civilised and stop, go and handle sublimely. You could easily do your test on one or your winter commute to work or a tour of Europe. Then you see a nice twisty section ahead of you, change down 2 or 3 gears, pin the throttle and "there" suddenly becomes "here", leaving you with a fairly vague idea of how it happened. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. I did say in my post that the SRAD was in Corona colours. That should be clear enough as to which bike I was talking about! ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F

When one asks for advice, one usually at least acknowledges the advice received. I agree it's the persons perogative to do what they want, but if you aren't even going to acknowledge the advice, or even try to understand it and do what you want anyway... You might as well have done what you want anyway and not asked for advice!
Jeez

What do you want Snowflake, a gold medal, or a speech about great you are?
I’m sorry to disappoint but you’ll have suffice with me replying to posts (as I try to do with everyone who takes a minute out of their day to post on the threads i create)
Sometimes I miss the odd one, apologies to anyone I miss, and sometimes I get my facts wrong, but that’s why I’m here.. to learn.
Hopefully this will appease your fragile ego, but I doubt it.
Thanks to everyone who contributed.
And for anyone interested, I ended up buying the 2000 SRAD with only 5k miles on it. TBF I think i liked it the most out of three before I’d even posted here. The bike shop helped me a lot, talking to the vendor who was also really helpful, and despite the negativity on this thread I’ve learned something, which means it hasn’t been a total waste!
Anyway I’m done! See you elsewhere on the forum! ____________________ CBT - Aug24, Theory - Jun25, Mod 1 - Jul25, Mod 2 - Sep25

I read the thread and took it all in. TBF I think the guys were trying to advise the best way to transition from a low powered monkey to what in essence is a superbike. You chose the peakiest that pushes 600 BHP/ton with a huge burst of power at 6K and up.
Take it easy and take tentative dips into the zone and you should be ok.
Main thing is you didn't buy an overpriced old tech GSX600F, which was most of the advice. ____________________ Now: A100, GT250A, XJ598, FZ750
