Anyone use them?
I've been using a push button 4 way switcher for a number of years but it doesn't seem to want to work with my PS5.
Any ideas?

Try a different, known to work cable? Maybe all the pins aren't wired?

I do, but I have 2 HDMI slots on my telly, so I put the games console in one, and everythng else in the splitter in the other slot

I know its no guarantee it will work but it was the cable supplied with the console.
I'm just wondering if it might have been a hdmi compatability issue.

There’s several different versions of HDMI. Make sure the splitter is compatible with the version that the PS5 uses (HDMI 2.1 in this case).

Or they might not have wired all the pins. Not sure how a splitter detects a signal but it might be as simple as power at a particular pin.

I'd expect a manufacturer-supplied cable to be MORE likely to deviate from standard wiring. Like the USB cables you get with some things that don't carry data, only charging.

I've got at least one HDMI cable at home that doesn't carry sound. That was quite deliberate because I didn't want it to but serves to illustrate they aren't all the same.

Had no end of bother with this.

Either the ARC socket on the TV misbehaving.
Knackered cables etc.
HDMI does not like cables being yoinked out when stuff is on.
4k Sources can be really iffy about passthrough

My solution was to get a 4K compatible Denon receiver and use that as the splitter.

Zero problems since.

There is a point about signal strength too? Is it an amplified switch? I had an issue with this because I have a really long HDMI cable going from a wall plate to a projector. The signal from the DVD player wasn't strong enough by the time it got to the projector.

I actually fitted the switch before I had more than one HDMI device, it made sense to add redundancy rather than just using a single port amplifier.

No idea what the switch I have is. It's hard to get at and I don't want to disturb the birds nest at the back of the hi-fi cabinet.

I think this is probably the case. The ps5 works fine plugged into a hdmi on the telly.
So if I change the switcher to something compatible with the ps5, will the older devices still work with it?

Backwards compatible is more likely than forwards Smile
