You have to start somewhere. I have just joined after moving over from the darkside where I rode BMW's and have bought a very nice Kawasaki GTR A14.

I had an early one (A1 or A2) I cannot remember, nor can I recall why I sold it. Looking at the parts list for GTR's I find there are a lot of parts no longer available new. Are there any names I should know about where I can source used parts should anything pack up. That is ignoring eBay there is too much dodgy gear on there for me.

Anyway I will look at the content and see what is going on.

Yes thank you for your welcome.

I have found the Fowlers website and it is very good. They have a section where you input your bike's details and they list all parts and numbers for the various GTR models and this is where I found out that some items are not available. Essential things like parts for the Unitrack rear suspension which do wear unless carefully maintained.

I do believe that some cycle parts are interchangeable with other Kawasakis such as the GPZ900 so they may be listed there.

How do Thumbs Up

I'm assuming you're in the UK?

Z-Power are pretty good for old Kwak parts, although GTRs probably aren't their real stock in trade.

CMSNL are very good for exploded parts diagrams, which can often help with identifying stuff, but AFAIK they are new OE parts specialists, so whatever is available will be double dear, probably quadruple dear, seeing as they are in the Netherlands and you might have import charges to deal with now.

Don't ignore Ebay, there is some shonky stuff on there, but it can be an invaluable source of hard to find parts, you never know what people have laying on top of the wardrobe - do check out foreign Ebay sites as well, Germany seems to be a bit of a hotbed for old Jap bike parts.

GTR1400 Wub A lovely bike but Kawasaki didn't get it quite right. Other than shaft drive it didn't really have any advantage over the ZZR1400 as a sports tourer. A pity really. One of those bikes that should have been but wasn't. I loved it.

Yes I am based in the Free Republic of Durham!

Thanks for the tip about Z Power but when I was searching elsewhere I also came across a company based in Liverpool called DK Motorcycle spares who deal mainly on E Bay but also have an extensive website with seemingly mostly Kawasaki GTR spares. Their prices for major components are very reasonable such as final drive boxes for around £80. For BMW you can pay well into three figures.

When I had a BMW the ignition trigger (Hall sensor) was my major problem I replaced 4 in as many years and they are not cheap new.

I will keep digging.
