One of the cars passed the MOT yesterday.

The tester is a bit funny though. Sometimes he doesn't see things he noticed last year and vice versa despite nothing being changed. For example he didn't notice the inside bent wheel rim (perhaps the rotation was at the top of the strut), and this year unlike last year he didn't advise of the rust hole in the boot (and I know he was there as he moved the spare wheel). But he did mention the broken number plate as an advisory. The number plate has been broken 8 years and the last 4 years he has tested he has never mentioned before. Rolling Eyes

Dutiful Son Episode 29: nothing wrong with the loft tank at my mum's place - full of water - seems it was an airlock. Luckily the bathroom tap is the mixer sort so I stopped it up with both hot & cold on and after a moment the toilet started filling up. The Dark Arts of plumbing Smile

My neighbour finally showed up with the two hundred quid that it cost me to fix my bike after their friend knocked it wonky late one night in December. Rolling Eyes

Having the money is good but I'm more pleased that I don't have to go knocking on their door and asking for it again.

Thumbs Up

I once fitted new elec power shower for someone who reckoned teh existing was nadgered.. the new one didn't run either (just went scalding). It was only then I spotted the lack of cold flow from the header tank..cleared the lock and bingo.

Saturday afternoon and the streets of Kingston are awash with Chuggers Neutral

Starting a punch up with the purveyor of Socialist Worker was tempting - he had a trestle table emblazoned with the banner "Are you a Communist?" - but instead I ended up chatting to one of the Hara Krishna mob. Of course he fished out a copy of the Bhagavad Gita but he was a bit surprised that I'd already read it Smile

A statement in that article by the owner - "In a town like Macclesfield Brexit really makes it difficult to recruit staff," he added.

What he reallyt meant to say - "In a town like Macclesfield Brexit really makes it difficult to recruit staff for a box of smarties and being allowed to lick the plates,"

Went to make some keto banana bread that I accidentally turned into gingerbread instead, avec glace cherries and chopped ginger.

Tastes fucking delicious.

I've now made myself sufficiently sick on it (slathered in butter) for one evening, I can now leave the rest of it to cool down under a teatowel, and I will slice it up and put it into individual little diet-rescue parcels in the morning.

It will save me from going out and snorting a pack of donuts from the Outlet Greggs down the road every other day.

It's not exactly keto, cos it are got treacle in it (the recipe called for maple syrup or golden syrup of which i have none) so there's a bit too many carbs in that for my continued weight loss regime, but if I only eat one slice at a time and freeze the rest, it will be more difficult to make a pig of myself with it Laughing

S-L-O-W-L-Y starting to feel differences from the latest keto thing.

Despite scoffing far too much of that banana gingerbread the other day, I can tell my thunder thighs are not *quite* so thundery as they were (but they still are).

I seem to be in the right frame of mind to behave myself (mostly) - but it could topple over at any moment if the cat snuffs it ... when Rolling Eyes

So I'm managing to eat (some) vegetables, meat, eggs, cheese and mostly avoid pasta, spuds, and bread.

Top tip: Celeriac mash tastes more like parsnips than spuds, but it makes ok bubble and squeak Cool Thumbs Up

Managed to get two tablets into the cat.

Did the "burrito wrap" thing which worked reasonably well, even though I was doing it on my own - fumbled a bit due to not having enough hands - but I got them down her without too much trouble, having coated them in Primula cheese spread, and then a little squirt of water to make her swallow them.

Not sure she will let me do it again in two days time Rolling Eyes but at least succeeding at my first attempt made me feel better about the whole goings-on.

Torque specs on the exhaust studs called for an anaemic 8Nm so very easy to overtighten. Did 'em by hand to what I thought felt right and the torque wrench said I was an eighth of a turn out Smile

You will thank the Spec when/ if you have to remove the bastirts again.

They're 'not so tight' due to the environment they live in.

Buster pill giver. Fill it with water first, grip pills in the end, point and shoot.

I'd go far as to say i think it's pretty much impossible to get something down the airway of a concious cat. It's hard enough to deliberately get something down there in an anaesthetised one.

The tip of their tongue comes out of their mouth when they swallow. If you haven't seen the tongue, they haven't swallowed it.

That's interesting... we've used one of those frequently over the years (with variable efficacy TBH!) but never heard of the water thing! Do you just trickle a bit of water in rather than zap away like a water pistol, and the cat hopefully swallows and doesn't notice the pill?

I generally just point and shoot. It's designed to suck water up but it doesn't hold a lot. I have one cat that comes in every three months for me to give it a wormer. It's a nasty piece of work, you have to open the basket with forceps because it swipes your fingers through the bars. I wait for it to open its mouth to hiss at me and "donk" it's been pilled.

The other tip is if you tip their head all the way back, they have to open their mouth a little, the biomechanics of the jaw joint wont allow them to clamp it shut with their head tilted back.

Well we're down to only 10mg at the moment as the WBC was down a bit, so I only had to get one capsule in there today (until further notice).

All I can say is thank god for Primula cheese spread Laughing

It works quite well. I have a tiny syringe, about 15ml, and I fill it with not quite warm (but not cold) water to just give her a tiny trickle and it does indeed help her swallow and the pill (usually) goes properly down with it.

Would be a damn sight easier if they just made this stuff in crushable tablet form, but it must be too poisonous as I have to wear thick purple rubber gloves to give this stuff to her.

Shocked

I finally managed to find the energy to affix my fairy lights along the hallway wall.

At least I can also now put away the set of steps which I dragged out from behind the fridge.
Although Thinking if I had left them out, it might have motivated me to buy some curtain wire so I could hang curtains in my front window.

It's all very higgledy piggledy and ad hoc but I don't care as long as they are up.

My levels of motivation have been very low lately, I expend what little energy I do have on making sure my work is done properly, and that the dog is walked. Rolling Eyes
