Howdie I'm Craig from Halifax West Yorkshire.

Had a bike years ago and kept saying to myself id get another one but years passed and I didn't but decided in 2020 to finally get it sorted and get it done.


So did the cbt and got me a Yamaha Ybr 125 Custom passed the theory in December and got my mod 1 next month-ish yay then hopefully pass that and then onto the mod 2 then I can join as they say the big bike club.

Then its the fun part find a bike I like and that I can afford.

Good luck with the tests, did mine in June, I was most worried about the theory as a long term car driver Laughing

I didn’t have a geared bike of my own until after I passed and passed fairly easily, just practice enough and have it clear in your head what you need to do on the MOD1 and you’ll piss it. I watched lots of YouTube videos of MOD1 tests and I was surprisingly relaxed on the day because it was familiar.

MOD2 was just a nice ride (albeit mine was in rush hour so wasn’t that nice) with someone who wanted you to have a licence, my examiner even bought my scooter off me the following weekend

Practice your U turns and figure of eights etc at your local car park.

Remember there is no rush in mod 1 .. Take a deep breath before and after each section and control your nerves!

The scary part about mod 1 is the fact that if you do fail the only person to blame is yourself! Wink

Cheers i agree they are a awesome bike just wish it was a bit bigger Tis a bit small for me. But meh i don't plan having it forever.

Cheers the theory wasn't too bad but I did literally just scrape through think i needed 55 and got 55 but hey I'm not complaining.

I did think that and then a mate said don't as it's different when you are on a bigger bike with the extra weight etc. But still want to practice in a car park.

Any practice you do on your 125 will not be wasted!

It is different, but not in the way you'd expect. Big bikes are inherently more stable. If you can do it on a 125, you can DEFINITELY do it on a 600.

That's a bit 'advanced' but some of the advice is very, very pertinent. Note the point around lean angle and how much tighter the turn can be.
