2001 scooter
I see someone has previously blanked off the pipe from the
exhaust port to the valve thingy and while I'm in there, I'm inclined to whip the whole lot out to declutter the thing

I haven't take anything newer than 1979 for an MOT for yonks
so is this OK?

All I see on the gubment MOT site is noise related stuff

TIA

on a bike all they test is

1) is it secure

2) does it make the expected level of noise for it's type.

They aren't tested for emissions. or BS stamps. Or any other piece of bollocks crap the filth choose to try and give you a vehicle rectification notice for.

I wonder if they just dilute the reading or actually reduce the total amount spewed out?

For example if an engine had a huge air pump blowing a large volume air though the exhaust then the emissions by volume would be tiny, but total amount expelled would be the same. Maybe me overthinking it.

Took mine off just to declutter, does nothing for performance of course.
