Storing a motorcycle outside(and maintaining it question)

Anyone here have experience in keeping their ride outside.
I've been keeping my bandit 1250 outside for the last 3 years and theft has not been a problem so far, I use ground anchor and kryptonite chain and lock. The problem I've had is keeping the bike in good condition. Just had my wheels, and swing arm painted....chain replaced and brake calipers rebuilt all due to being destroyed over the last 2 winters. Its safe to say I'll be a fair weather rider from now on. Is there anything I can do to maintain the paintwork, and stop electrical problems over a prolonged winter storage season or will the weather be inevitably a problem when storing outside. I'm looking into buying a cruiser but the thought of it being slowly ruined by the cold and rain is putting me off.

It's the roads salt that does for bike. Not just the lumps but the dissolved stuff on the surface that sprays up into all the nooks and crannies. It needs to be washed off and the bike dried.

Fair weather rider will help - a lot - as will drying out after a damp run (people use leaf blowers for this purpose I'm told). Regular waxing and polishing will of course help plus a coat of anti corrosion spray for the winter (ACF50 ACS1000(?) etc..)

Is it on the road side or your property bud?

If possible I would knock something together to keep the rain off but allow good airflow. Think tiny shed with slats?
