does anyone have a Bonneville or similar with spoked wheels, getting mine soon and wondering how I will secure it away from home, im presuming a decent chain wont go through the spoked wheels ?

at home i dont think it will be a problem as their is a big gap under the air intake to pass a chain through, then down into my ground anchor, but away from home its not that easy as usually what you need to secure to is at the side of the bike not on the floor

I now have the bike, no way my 19mm chain will go through the wheels without bending spokes, 16mm might go through but chances are ill damage a spoke or scuff the wheels up doing that

Under the air intake seems the best bet at home, though i might use a pragmasis anti pinch pin so im not dragging a chain through and scuffing things up

Away from home but out of sight I think ill have to padlock a chain to the frame triangle where the rear foot peg is, or maybe use that anti pinch pin through there if the bike chain isnt in the way

You might want to consider a LiteLok - they seem to be pretty well thought of:

Why is it necessary to go through the wheels?

Can it not fit through the swing arm or around a fork leg or one if the shocks?

just for future reference if anyone ever wonders the same, a 13mm chain goes through the wheels fine, being spokes though something like a D/U lock would need to go around some frame, or use a noose chain and a D/U lock
