Hi,

As a next bike, I was considering a Honda CB250. Was considering buying this winter while prices are low, but keeping my current GN125 until summer next year - to allow for getting rid of teething problems on my new bike, get an extra NCB on the insurance for it, and to get a better price for it when I sell.

Insurance is generally ace on CB250s - have been quoted less than I'm currently paying on my 125! Honda are also known for their bikes weather resistance - handy in the winter!

I was just wondering what people's opinions on the bike here were? Also, do you feel that it would be able to maintain NSL + about 10mph (which is my basic speed requirement from it)?

I can also pick a decent one up quite cheap too.

Cheers,

Craig

CB250 'Superdream' werent the best bikes around, reliability is a bit shité now due to their age. However there are millions about so picking one up cheap locally shouldnt be a problem!

I'm sure they put out more than 18bhp, my 125 twin superdream puts out not far off the learner limit (14.6, i think mine puts out just over 12).

Overall they are comfortable, usable bikes which are supprisingly powerfull if you get the revs up. prettymuch a great winter hack bike. Expect everyone else to have thought of this too however and for their to be strong competition for them Wink

Well I had its sister bike the CMX250 Rebel for just over 8 months, was a good little reliable bike.

I could cruise at an indicated 90 on the motorway with not too much effort though It was probably really about 80-85MPH, had no problem keeping up with traffic, the only thing that annoyed me was the vibration as they have no balancer shaft as it was removed from the engine due to earlier problems with the engine when it was in the superdream in the 80's.

Why not consider a 500 too, I bet you could get a quite a competative quote on a GS500, as there only Group 7 and as far as I am aware the CB250 is about Group 5-6.
