I've not got into all this flavoured Gin business yet.

I dipped my toe in the pink gin market recently, having been bought quite a lot of it for my birthday. So I am prepared to go along with that, I suppose.

Its all my dad's fault, he and his Mrs used to make their own gin in the basement, and they got me started on drinking it.

So when (typically) I would walk into a bar and have NO IDEA what I wanted to drink (being not really much of a drinker), then I started just saying "oh well, gin and tonic, then" - cos it was easy to think of. You get used to the taste.

There's a lot of very interesting things going on in arches all around Bermondsey.
Been watching the "artisan people" all growing up their little businesses.
Nice.
Cool

G & T with ice and a slice, very pleasant Thumbs Up I don’t know why?, but it has to be cold.

Keep your funny/fancy flavoured gins.

Just an ordinary Gordon’s and tonic please.

Quality gin I don't mind...

Tall glass, fill with ice, add at least a double, top off with tonic.

In order of personal preference:

Malfi Con Limone
Bloom
Silent Pool
Tomcat London Dry
Sipsmith
Blackfriars 10 (best value)
Plymouth
Hendricks
Bathtub
Tomcat Mango
Whitley Neil

I usually pick anything from this list if its on offer at supermarket.

.....or used to. Can't buy the stuff now because unable to control how much of the bottle is drunk of an evening (all of it). And the hangover lasts 2 days as kidneys decide to go AWOL for a bit.

I've moved on to Hendricks, but I'm not all that fussed if I drink that or some other brand. It seems a bit smoother than Gordons I suppose, but horses for courses, whatever is in the cupboard, innit.

The senior consort put some cucumber in mine last weekend, and some sort of elderberry tonic, and it was, yeah, okay.

For a a top quality, lovely drinking normal gin for drinking with normal tonic, look no further than Martin Millers Westbourne gin. It's the single malt of gins.

Try in in a very dry martini. Pour three fingers of Martin miller, chill it on ice, open the vodka bottle, then close it again. Serve with a slice.

Tanqueray or Whitley Neill.

I drink mine with ginger ale (preferably Bundaberg but will suffer Schweppes) and a few splashes of Angostura
Orange bitters over some ice, served in a lead crystal goblet. Laughing

Suit yourself, each to their own.... You're talking to someone who gets up an extra half hour early just so I can make
my morning coffee in a French press before I go to work... The sort of person who dips strawberries in balsamic vinegar. Laughing

Sadly, this also means it's rapidly becoming South London's answer to Hoxton, with all the hipster connotations that go with it.

So, fiercely proud of my background though I am, it is getting to the stage where I feel less able to admit to it.

The beard went recently as well...........
