I need a pair of wireless headphones so I can watch Netflix while using my rowing machine. Unfortunately my TV doesn't have Bluetooth, and it seems that's how pretty much all wireless headphones work these days. So I need a Bluetooth adapter to plug in to the TV's headphone socket. Any thoughts? These things seem to be available on Amazon ranging in price from a couple of quid (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08FFQKR9P) up to silly money (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B095X5DKG9). What do I need? Anyone got one that's tried and tested?

Most Bluetooth adapters are fine for audio, but they tend to introduce a bit of a delay. So things like Spotify would be ok, but you may notice speech on videos being a bit out of sync.

Just something to bear in mind.

Hm, as my application is specifically video that's an interesting one. Would that apply to TVs with built-in Bluetooth?
I note that these days all wireless headphones sold specifically for TVs appear to use Bluetooth (which wasn't the case when I bought my last pair 10 years ago or so.)

I have a pair of these that I use on an older TV with no Bluetooth. They plug into the 3.5mm headphone outlet and operate on an analogue RF broadcast meaning no delay and enormous range.

Those kind would be the safer bet. I'd trust a TV with integrated bluetooth support more than a dongle, but there's obviously going to be some models that are better than others.

Buy the dongle from somewhere reputable with a good return policy and try some out, or get a separate pair of RF headphones.

Thanks - yes those look very similar to the ones I'm replacing. A possibility (though was really looking for something rather more budgetty - I have no great interest in the sound quality given that these are just for use to allay boredom while using the rowing machine!)

Wouldn't a gaming headset work? I'm off to plug my dongle into my tv and see what happens.

That answers that, didn't work.

Amazon do some cheap RF headphones; I’m sure other sources are available.
