Hi guys,

New to that chat, have been riding for 5 years now and just sold my Monster 696..

As you can tell by the title, I'm struggling to make a choice on my next bike between the following;
• 2019 CB650R
• 2011 CB1000R
Both are in good condition, good service history and around the same cost and price to insure....

For the life of me, I just can't seem to make a decision...
Any advice / tips from owners of these would be great!!

Cheers

***EDIT***
I use my bike for commuting into London, 30mile round trip and weekend rides..

One's got a bigger engine... without knowing what you'll use it for, hard to say but Honda rarely make bad bikes. Always go for the biggest bike you can handle Smile

Yeah my bad, updated my post...
Commuting into London during the week and weekend riding...

It's the decision between an olderore powerful bike, or a newer less powerful bike

How big are you? My pal had a CB650R and it is a great bike. The downsides are that it's quite small for the larger rider and he looked a bit silly on it. He's got a Tiger 1050 now that fits him better

If you are commuting in London would small and light not be better?

I don't really know about the older CB1000R so can't really comment on it. Would like one myself.

It's a nice choice to have Smile Good luck.

All things being equal, I'd go with the CB1000R. I think the build quality will be better - because it's basically a higher-up-the-range bike (blade engine - plus great brakes, and better suspension than the 650).

It'll be quite a step up from that 696 though. Not just in power but weight too - it really is a chunk heavier. Not surprisingly the 650 sits in between - but I always think they should be lighter. Contemporary Honda bikes always seem to be 10-20kg heavier than they would've been 10-20 years ago - e.g. the new CB500s, the NC750 and yes, the CBR650R. Personally, if I was going to commit to Honda I'd want a blade - not sure which though. Quite probably the 954 as iirc it's the lightest. Only problem is they're getting dearer these days.

So I ended up just going and test riding the 1000 and it's an awesome bike.... Was a bit concerned about the jump to 1000 but actually it was ok and managale... It does absolutely fly though when you open it up, which I need to watch out for!!

Not the biggest guy, so it deff is a bit bigger, but actually I think I've fallen for it now.... Worst case scenario I change my mind in 6 months and get to move to something else! The greatest joy of owning motorcycles!!!
