I'm loving my Aprilia Caponord, but one thing I'm struggling with is how jerky the throttle is. I have to do a lot of clutch balancing at slower speeds in traffic to keep it from jerking forwards when rolling on the accelerator.
I've tried adjusting the throttle cable and tightened the chain, but it makes no difference. If the clutch lever is out in 1st or 2nd and I'm slowly rolling along, then slowly twist the accelerator, it'll initially have no effect, then the revs will suddenly kick in and the bike jerks forwards.

Is there anything I'm missing in how to set it up? Or an accessory I can buy to make the acceleration come on more smoothly?

Since you balance the throttle setting against centrifugal force when cornering it sounds a bit worrying, assuming you don't mean a single surge like power band effect.
Maybe the throttle cable needs lubricating or is not routed correctly after maintenance i.e. bends are too tight.
You could check what's happening when you let it snap back.
Assuming it has a cable Rolling Eyes

Just found this:

https://www.rsrmoto.com/boosterplug-for-aprilia-1200-caponord-all-models/

Seems to cover your issues...

EDIT: Just noticed you have a 1000 and that's for a 1200

Evil Hans that's great! Shame it's for a 1200 but that covers exactly the issues I have, I'll do some Googling on 'booster plugs' now for the 1000.

(Why the hell 'Booster Plug', surely it should be called a 'Booster Stop Plug'!)
Thumbs Up

doggone - I do find the bike difficult to corner at slow speeds, especially in hilly Sheffield! I've found myself revving higher and using the clutch to balance it more instead when setting off, but on previous bikes it's just been a case of rolling on/off the throttle.

Do they actually do anything, or is it just a resistor with expensive wiring attached? Just looks like it fakes an AIT reading.

AP Workshops know a LOT about Aprilia bikes (although probably more about the sportier models). Their YouTube channel (of the same name) is always good - it's a video round-up of what they do in their actual business. They seem like very knowledgeable, approachable and helpful people. I appreciate you're in Sheffield (?), and they're over in the Midlands, but they could still be potentially helpful. If you want to contacting them try their website:

You already have a throttle dampner.

It's called your right pinky finger.

You squeeze the bar end with your pinky as you roll on the power.
Jerky is sometimes user input. The jerk working the controls.
When you feed in power the bike moves forwards and your mass stays where it is.
So to wind power in smoothly you need to dampen the throttle input.
(Unless you're trying to beat a London cab/Bojo-Bike off the line at the lights when you have to give it all at once.)
