Any particular reason for this? if its because your bike has blown its engine it would be much less hassle to buy a standard engine and refit surely.

Nah when I bought the bike it had a skyjet 125 engine in it but I like the cbr 125 engines as there solid and are reliable unlike these Chinese engines so I just want to fit a cbr engine instead as I’m on a budget

So you want to replace a perfectly serviceable engine with one of doubtful provenance that you have to pay extra for because you are on a budget?

Something seems a little... strange.... about your thought processes.

You've come to the wrong place then.

The engine is working fine. Why replace it until it's broken?

Oh, I know. Its because you are 17 amd think you know better than this doddery old 51 year old who's seen and done everything....

The cbr engine is just as much a piece of shit. That's 125s for you.

Why don't you do a test and get a grown ups bike.

And it's a big fuck you to your attitude as well.

Honda CBR125 engines are also turd.

They aren't basically the same at all, water cooling is a big difference, you have no radiator mount and you 100% don't have the mechanical know how to swap the engine out and replace all of the electrics.

So, no, buy a CBR if you want one, but they aren't as good as you are expecting them to be.

Can you make the necessary spacers for fitting the CBR125 engine in your frame?

Could you then make it work and stuff?

Or you could sell your bike and buy a CBR125?

Has the skyjet engine broken or are you doing this just for the sake of it? I've owned a couple of cbr125's and it's not worth the hassle for an engine that is sort of more reliable. It also looks totally different and is watercooled, so isn't just going to be a case of dropping it in and plugging everything up. Better of finding out what Jap engine the skyjet one is a clone of and using that.

Don't be too hard on Shaney.. admittedly at 25 he no longer has the excuse of exuberance of youth but hey he's got a bike.

Anyway, Shaney it goes like this..

Ultimately you can do what you like.. Yes water-cooled motor will look cooler on you Lexmoto but it's not a bolt in replacement as the good folk here have indicated, as well as the cooling system (radiator etc.) there's probably other issue wrt to ECU wiring and so on. anything though is achievable if you're determined.

The stance of us old folk here however is 'why bother?' Performance benefits if you complete the project will be negligible, the Helen girl from Goblin Works Garage won't want to be your girlfriend and there's always chance it will never run again. Spend the money on training for your test and get yourself a faster/cooler bike that way. Most of us have tinkered about on our starter bikes looking for better performance, its fun and harmless enough as long as you know the limitations.

Don't bother trying to fit a CBR125 engine. Just get these:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/293379930677?hash=item444ece7a35:g:vA0AAOSwHwRd93~z

And drill holes in your airbox, to increase your hp by up to 40%. Guaranteed.

Just make sure to do it AFTER the air filter so you don’t have a load of paper in the way and it breathes more freely
