Tentpal

As above, useful when ground critters are a concern,.anything else is just charlie / ewan fun for those with the money to indulge with much more practical options avalible for many less ponds

Personally for one man dirty camping I have an L shaped airbed. It's a good bit of kit, it goes on the back seat of the car and fills into the footwells giving a decent space to stretch out on
Coupled with the aforementioned kiddies window socks the windows can be cracked open for air with mozzies kept out and a bit of privacy. All in cost me about 35 quid

Where do you sleep if you've got stuff in the car?

I've an e60 so if I know I'm going to rough it somewhere I will be able to fit shit in the boot or on the front seats when the bed is out Thumbs Up
And if that's not enough, a roof box to put all the shit on top is 400 squids, opposed to the 2.5k tentpal

Ah, so it’s an upstairs/outside toilet.

I think a roof box for a few hundred quid & a normal tent is a better option than £2K+ for something sat on the roof..

The savings alone will pay for good few trips.

Yeah if you've only got a bit of stuff then a roof box is an easy answer but if you've got a reasonable amount of stuff in the car then the chances of being able to fit it all into a roof box is approximately zero.

I'm not saying that a roof tent is the solution, I'm just pointing out that those inflatable mattresses that go in the back of cars are all well and good unless you've got stuff in your car.

An inexpensive tent is the solution. Dance!

How would you know about safaris, Marcus? You won't even go to Wales because they speak a bit foreign.

I remember going camping one time for a week and after 2 days I was like nope ill sleep inside the car with the duvet, had enough of sleeping 1st class homeless!

tent on a car roof............on safari maybe im a wuss but ill leave safari sleeping outside with lions and anything else that may want to eat me alone.

would feel pretty shite to be eaten by a wild animal to then be shat out by said animal a day later.

i feel sorry for that dude that got eaten by 2 sharks sharks this week, terrible way to go, bad enough when flesh eating bacteria tries to eat you
