Fox News did a bit about legacy media's continued Trump derangement syndrome. "Oh really?" a quick trip over to CNN.com and errr... okay, TDS is even pushing out the rabid COP26 coverage Rolling Eyes

Anyhoo, still on the front page is a bit about how Facebook's new parent entity 'Meta' sounds a bit like 'death' (feminine) in Hebrew. IMHO this is not a story, it's veiled threat.

Given the recent "revelations" orchestrated by the Far Left it looks like Facebook's days are numbered. I suspect Zuk will be virtually exiled to his metaverse Napoleon style while the rest of the company - FB, Instagram, WhatsApp - will be eviscerated and discarded like Parler Thinking

Facebook suppresses most conservative thought, the algorithms are set to curb any speech that is pro conservative. Just like youtube.

Yes but nowhere near enough. Facebook's problem is, and we get this from the leaks, a priority on making money over singing sweetly from the hymn sheet.

Yeah, this didn't help with his "I'm just a normal person" vibe:

I think FB in its current form has had its day.

But I do wonder where Meta will take us.
(as a civilisation, I mean. Not merely as Facebook users: I appreciate that not everyone is one of those)
He certainly seems to be jumping in boots-and-all with the Virtual Reality thing.

It's all a bit too Black Mirror for me at the moment.

There is a bit of bad press but FB still prints money, I doubt anything will stop that in the next 5 years.

Very true.
Even I struggle to avoid being a person like that Laughing

It's been made very easy to stay indoors in your own little shell, in a little world wrapped in cotton wool.
I like it, but I do not like it.

Been fighting to free myself from the deathly embrace quite a bit lately.

But most people seem happy to be mindlessly whisked away from the ugly realities of real life. How can they not see what is happening?

Netflix isn't free. A lot of the people hooked up to the Internet 24/7 are supposedly living on benefits and would be unable to afford it, surely?

Compared to sky it's peanuts. £10 a month for pretty much bingewatching TV 24/7 without a documentary in sight? Well worth not paying you rent for. Rolling Eyes

Even better when drinking a special brew or White Lightening.

Facebook is there to sell metadata about its users to advertisers, so that is probably why the name meta. Obviously it has a side business in thought control a bit like newspapers do.

I have better things to do with my time.

They lost my custom and on the rare occasion I go to the normal stores, they now get mickey.mouse@hotmail.com

Of course the easiest way of dealing with it is to just say no.
