Even with all this sleeze and a buffoon in charge I will probably vote Tory again. Not because they are any good but because in my view Labour will lead the coubtry on a path of self destruction on so many levels.

As things stand, I think the Tories will do the same. There really isn't any good choice, or even one marginally better than another here. What's the point in defending ourselves against the predations of the EU if you're going to destroy people's lives from within anyway? Time to try something different, out of desperation as much as anything.

When times get tough, people resort to the ends of the political spectrum. So I'm guessing its either a new Hitler or a Lenin. Which would be worse? Hitler managed to restore some national pride at the expense of diversity, as did Lenin. Lenin lasted longer, but Hitler had the best parties.

Decisions, decisions...

By god we have some scumbags for politicians today.

Owen Patterson sells his soul for 13 pieces of silver and the Tories try and change the rules to save him. Thankfully he has now resigned but blames it on others saying he wants a life "outside the cruel world of politics". Nothing about him selling his integrity.

Then we have Claudia Webbe, a lovely piece of work already kicked out of the Labour party handed suspended sentence after threatening partner's female friend with acid.

What the hell has this country come to.

Oh, and as an aside on sentencing, a non descript male person posting racist remarks about football players on FB gets a 10 week actual prison sentence but a black woman in the public theartre threatening to throw acid in someones face gets of with a 10 week suspended sentence?

For me what bothers me isn't whether he consulted for some company and whether people consider it bribery or not because it's a bit like rearranging the deckchairs on Titanic. What is far more annoying is watching Labour MPs who are more interested in trying to make their party look relatively better by trying to make a Tory look worse. It gives the Labour hardcore something to masterbate over but it doesn't actually help ordinary citizens in any way. What it tells me is that there are just too many MPs and they don't have enough real work to get on with. The commons and the lords need to go on a real diet. Let's also have candidates put a mini-CV on their ballot paper listing work history and qualifications because these humanities graduates just aren't much good. See David Cameron who told Gordon Brown to "cut the PR and start being a PM", and then spent his entire PMship doing nothing but PR and "managing decline", what a loser.

Reminds me of that comedy bit: cabinet positions should be like jury service, randomly allocated from the electorate.

"But we might end up with some nutter!"

And then think about what we have now Shocked

Here's a thought: it's a testament to the success of Western Civilisation™ that there's ample resources to support a vast grifter class that contributes nothing to society Smile

Coffee in Vietnam is unbeatably good I'm afraid, and cheap.

However, I will buy that beer, under one condition: You continue to call my bike a POS Laughing Yesterday I hit a minor bump and it caused the rear bumper to snap off at the frame, i.e. the thickest metal part of the bracket holding it into place, snapped clean. It then wedged against the rear wheel and drove a deathly groove perfectly along the entire circumference of the tyre. Didn't burst it but the damage was surely mortal. So today was new tyre day. At least it's cheap here. 30 quid. POS bike Laughing

Moving to Vietnam is a bit drastic for me just so I can drip sweat into a nice coffee Laughing
And don't worry about the POS reference to your bike. I can't afford to ride mine Sad

Here's a question then. If the Great Reset is a real thing, and all these world leaders, global corporates and the rest are determined to push ahead with it, what are you going to do about it?

And more to then point why haventhey waited for now? Surely the blast recession would have been better to reset the economy simply by etting all the banks fail rather than propping them up.

The great reset is a thing, its there on the WEF website

https://www.weforum.org/great-reset/

There are lots of conspiracy theories surrounding it, I haven't read and fully understood it yet, but I believe in essence they are wanting big business to play a central role in world affairs with governments taking a lesser role

My take on the great reset (when a guy taking the "it's a conspiracy" slant showed me it), was that it's a general discussion around the future of society as automation takes over.

The key points I saw were:

- Automation is taking jobs
- We will end up with society divided into two sides: 1. The engineers/programmers/managers, and 2. The Useless Classes of people who don't need to work

So the question is, what can be done about the Useless Classes.

The answers are things like Universal Basic Income.

The next problem is: What are the risks in this impending new social divide? Governments could create a UBI, but only give a pittance and let people starve, or they could use a UBI for political means, e.g. a "means tested" UBI which is really a case of "we'll give money only to those who will do as we desire (vote for us, go to war, etc)".

That's what I saw from the WEF stuff. Rather than it being any kind of big conspiracy, it was an important discussion about what's going to happen next in the world.

Probably won't be good anyway. Never is Laughing
