So, Zuckerberg is renaming Facebook to "Meta" in a major re-brand.
The cynical are pointing out that this is timed to distract from the whistleblower currently revealing all sorts of nasties about the major, biased media platform.
Remember a few weeks ago, when the Pandora Papers were released and Amazon Web Services, Facebook and other large tech servers went down for hours, then came back up with sh1t loads of data missing?
Western society is controlled by media now, not puppet democratic governments. This is hard to argue when we get 2 BP petrol stations over the entire country closing, the government tell us this and it's only a BP issue, then the media create panic.
These left wing dominant platforms are interfering with elections, banning Trump from having a voice, discrediting anything he was saying, banning anyone deemed a right of centre critic, such as Hopkins, Yaxley-Lennon etc. Zuckerberg put millions of $$$ into hiring and training democrat supporting vote counters and nobody batted an eyelid.
There are links between the super rich large tech owners, Gates, Bezos, Zuckerberg, Dorsey etc and the WEF, which appears to be behind all Western, global political policy of late. They get platforms which veer to the right, shut down, like Parler.
They're getting way too powerful, so how should we stop them from performing "The Great Reset" to Global Socialism?
There are loads of examples where media is more powerful than government. Look at Rashford. One Tweet, which the media forced an issue out of and government policy was reversed within hours.
What's the point of government, when left wing media run the show? |

What a surprise..... Even though they actually are guilty of it, they got off because the plaintiff could not prove all iPhone users represented, suffered material damage or stress as a result of it.
Basically, do as you want if you're a global elite super power.
Quote: | The Supreme Court has blocked a mass legal action against Google over claims that it secretly tracked millions of iPhone users' web browsing activity while telling them that it did not.
The court has unanimously allowed Google's appeal against the Court of Appeal's 2019 judgement. |

Looks like amazon is about to disappear up it's own rectum by refusing to accept visa credit cards starting in January. So a major retailer refusing to accept the most popular credit card. Just after christmas when people have huge debit balances and so are pretty unlikely to be able to change providers.
I use amazon but I don't feel I need to use it strongly enough to go through the hassle of changing to a different credit card. Is amazon bigger than visa?
I suspect they are overestimating their own market power.
What if I buy Amazon gift cards at the local supermarket with my visa credit card.... ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

They're not the only ones dumping Visa, various banks are moving customers over to Mastercard. The various banks include Santander, Monzo, HSBC, NatWest, RBS, Ulster Bank and Coutts to name a few.
I think this story is only just getting started as more banks will follow suit and other retailers will be watching closely to see how it plays out for Amazon.

It'll be a cold day in hell when I use a debit card over the internet given the current state of internet security and card fraud.
If fraud is going to take place, I'd far rather it was someone elses money being stolen. With a debit card it's my money and I only have a assurance defrauded funds would be returned. With a credit card, I can just refuse to pay the bill rather than have to get into an argument of if they are going to return my money. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. GettinBetter wrote: | So Amazon don't like the charges applied by UK Visa companies, the same reason Ebay stopped using Paypal, the credit card issuers are getting too greedy. Sounds fair enough, to me. If you don't like the charges take your business elsewhere..... isn't that how it's supposed to be, I know it's what I do when I dissagree with prices. |
Sure, but as a vendor, you also need to make it easy for your customers and If I go into a shop which doesn't take the form of payment I have in my pocket, I don't rush about finding their preferred means of payment then go back, I go to a different shop.
I've had to do it before with a cafe that refused to take cash during lockdown. Card only apparently. Didn't have a card on me so no sale, ate elsewhere. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen.
