Montreal is a cool town. Best hockey in Canada and a damn good football team. Dude, if you can speak hockey, you'll be accepted anywhere in Canada. Wink

I don't speak French, so don't want to live in the francophone provinces. My girlfriend is bilingual and when we were last there in her home town I was struggling in stores, etc where most people didn't speak any English and it was OK the times when she was there with me to translate but on my own I relied on hand gestures and showing my phone with Google translate on the screen to people.

The thing I found really weird about Montreal is that supermarkets like Walmart close around 7pm - 10pm depending on the store location where as here in the UK they are universally open 24 hours. So annoying forgetting this and turning up to a closed store. Tabernak!

tatters wrote:
Alberta for sure though Sask is a close second, Manitoba is a muddy swamp and all other provinces are more far-left and overpopulated. Quebec for all its negatives is the most motorcycle friendly province and the women are smoking hot.

Would also have to be small town/rural 30-45 mins from a city and nowhere near a reserve.

Alberta has

Arrow No provincial sales tax

Arrow More work opportunity's

Arrow Less harsh winters

Arrow Cheaper booze

Arrow Cheaper and more choice of vehicles

Arrow Next to the Rockys (less flat prairies)

All really good points and I totally get what you mean about the good women of Quebec Wink

I've been to Canada a few times now but it's always been to Quebec or Ontario and ironically those are the provinces I don't want to stay in Laughing I found it kinda eerie how much the east of Quebec looks like Scotland in terms of landscape and flora ... it's almost as if they were once connected back in Pangea times Smile

Here is a pretty majestic bike posted for sale here in California. Majestic price to match, though, a little beyond my budget. A nice trophy for your collection if you are into that sort of thing.

Link here if you want to read up on the machine. The owner is rather proud of this motorcycle for someone who wants to be rid of it. https://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/mcy/d/san-mateo-1955-vincent-black-knight/7477169300.html

They sure fetch strong money but they are quality kit.. Not sure I could deal with anyone who refers to their bike as 'she' though..

i agree - i kind of grant special dispensation on the "she" thing for old iron like this and/or bikes with six figure mileage...still fairly drippy mind you.

Gender assignment aside, I don't think I would ever spend my money on a machine so valuable that I might not even use for fear of de-valuing it or crashing it. My main ride cost me roughly 1/30th of that.

It's Jay Leno money (and he would love this bike if he doesn't have one already.)

Here is a machine that must certainly qualify for the title "majestic bike." The owner thinks so highly of it that he parks it in his living room. (stupid Californians) I've rebuilt chainsaws on my coffee table before (back in the days when I was single, mind you,) but stopped short of putting the damn things on display. I can appreciate art in engineering as much as anyone, but some things just belong out on the road or in a garage.

Vincent Black Knight is still for sale by the way. Price must be too majestic even for the Pebble Beach Concourse d'Elegance crowd. Wink

Sometimes it's nice to enjoy a slow ride.

Very stylish. Swap out that Ford Kent 1300 for a Hayabusa engine/transmission combo, and you would have rocket-car inspiring performance. Might even do wheelies! Wink

I don't particularly like that and I usually love old bikes. The saddle looks way to big for it (and it's brown Puke )

Talking of trikes
The frontal pic of this one held my interest for 10 seconds then I went right off it.
I just don't get the attraction, specially not for 23 bloody grand !
Trikes are neither fish nor fowl IMO and no amount of tarting up
makes them any better.
I reckon 12 year olds might like it

A 'pretty lady' in brief attire precariously balanced on all fours atop of an Enfield Bullet..

.. I couldn't tell you if it was a 350 or a 500. It was nonetheless a Majestic sight.

Had one of these in 1971. Mine was 6 years old at the time, not nearly as pristine as this one. I did not really appreciate the bike then as much as I do now; mine suffered under my youthful care. You know, burnouts, donuts, and the like. I do not recall that it was very good at wheelies, the 4 speed gearbox had a pretty tall first gear, and I was not inclined to fit a larger sprocket due to the fully enclosed chain guard. Wink The Dream wasn't very good at impressing the young ladies, and some of my mates sneered at the old fashioned knuckle forks and massive fender. Fuck 'em all, I say; I was living the Dream, riding a Dream in my own little dreamworld. For only six grand I could be living the dream again, ha ha, nah, I'll pass.

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52462131215_5193143ef4_z.jpg

The Vincent is still for sale, by the way. Price dropped to only $69,000. My strategy is to wait a few years until the price drops to under 10 grand, then watch somebody else snatch it up.
