All I want for Christmas is a Monocle. Really, that's what I want, ive become more longsighted as ive got older and now have to put close up specs on all the time and it drives me round the bend. All I need though most of the time is some magnification for my dominant eye, for things like checking my smartphone or reading ingredients in the supermarket etc. So a Monocle would be great. So I wonder, what wierd or outlandish things would you like for Christmas but are unlikely to get no matter how many hints you drop?

Don't forget the monocle's secondary function.

You can show how surprised or disgusted you are by just letting it suddenly fall out as your eyes widen. You can, if you wish, accompany this with the words HEFYOU GONE MEDDDD in a croaky voice!

Monacles aside, nothing says eccentric quite like glasses with only one lens in.

Speaking of which, that brought to mind a particularly eccentric ratbiker who hellkat might remember called Pigeon. He still going about? His utterly hatstand website is still up. https://www.pigeonsnest.co.uk/ His article on macroscopic quantum tunnelling as an explanation of why 10mm sockets and odd socks go missing particularly stood out.

I won't get it but I'd like a camera that's better than a phone camera but still fits in a big pocket.

The Fuji x100V appears the most robust out of the bunch and completely weather sealed once a UV filter has been fitted.

The Sony and Ricoh use the same sized sensor and are smaller but ...hmm.

The Fuji is on the wish list.

I like that. It looks just like my old olympus 35mm. Tactile interface, adjust every setting without taking your eye off the viewfinder. Like cameras used to be before we had "progress". Thumbs Up.

The viewfinder can be optical rangefinder for the purists as can the shutter..mechanical or electronic, it's the straightforward labelled dials for the main settings which appealed.

35mm with some digital nudge room covers where I take most of my current pics. Super zoom or super wide isn't my thing however, there is a wide angle adapter that takes it to 28mm plus the older and more affordable versions fit on the 100v too.

Crammed full of gubbins with words like F-log and downloadable film profiles..settings for exposure levels when in bracketing mode....I think that's like HDR mode on my phone.
Stuff I'm not sure about.

They're still not quite cheap enough.
Maybe I'll rent one for a week.

[edit] that try before you buy thing is quite common in the camera world. Thumbs Up

I also want another arc'teryx hoody.

Best bit of outdoor kit I've ever had and I've worked outdoors for +30 years.

Atom LT (light) is my current one, it does for 90% of the conditions.
Something thicker like the Atom AR (all round) for the proper freezing days.

On the wish list it goes..

£1200 Shocked
Its just the kind nd of camera i would like but they seem thin on the ground these days and so expensive. Ideal to pair with the monocle though.

The top makers release a 'new' model every year or 2...I expect a decent price drop by the time I get around to buying one.

Could go for the previous X100F but the lens was widely reported as being a bit soft.

Some affordable Sonys and Canons but they don't offer all I'd like and won't fit in a pocket.
Interchangeable lenses is a rabbit hole.

No and can't see them offering anything more that I already get from the arc'teryx.

Good enough for the forces usually means they're decent.
That's why I wear Alt-Berg boots.

The FIA to state rules are rules and that when the regs say the safety car goes in at the end of the lap after all of back markers are released this has to be applied regardless.

Key word underlined.. I understand from others that a significant amount of effort is required to sift through the chaff. Meanwhile it will no doubt come to the attention of my gloating ex-wife that I've had to resort to such platforms and a time when I'm trying to portray an air of complete indifference to women.
The logical conclusion is of course to go 'retail' and pay however that's not a bridge I've had to cross before so somewhat apprehensive.

You could just stick to solo performances.

The oft maligned Portugese wank. Start off with one hand while sitting on the other. When you get pins and needles in the hand you are sitting on, swap over and it feels like someone else is doing it to you. Dance!

There was a night club in South Shields called La Strada where all the older women after a bit of fun went. If you couldn't pull there you had very big issues (it was more like them grabbing you). Where have those sleazy old places gone. Crying or Very sad

It is a bit of a waiting game in all honesty and a shot of luck too. I've been going out with my current girlfriend since March this year, but we had been talking for months before that. I randomly came across her on Instagram and after a few weeks of chatting through DMs there, it moved to calling each other and we just found out over time we really enjoyed talking to each other and when it got to the stage we were on call together for 4 - 8 hours at a time we reckoned we should meet up. We met up and struck it off from there.

Regarding escorts: not gonna lie, I've clapped cheeks around the whole world by paying for it. When you go here, there and everywhere for business you have needs to be taken care of. You can get some very, very tidy girls like actually stunning girls doing it: you need to pay up for it though. EDIT: One of the best/ easiest places I have been for it is Taiwan and Japan - I have been in hotels where they discretely charge your credit card things like "room service" or "mini bar" for you.

Once you stop giving a fuck what other people think about you it opens up more options. I am an out-and-out degenerate and I like it.
