I am using a Hypertherm Powermax 45xp with a machine torch. It uses a pilot arc to initiate the cutting process. No electronics interference. I have also used their Powermax 800, 900, & 1,000 plasma cutters successfully. Don’t go with one of the cheap Chinese jobs.

Yep, same model as i'll be getting. Actually, i'd like the 60 but 2k is already beyond my limit atm. I did go for a Chinese one, the cheapest i could find...£150. No good for the CNC obviously, but it'll do until the rig is built. Does a reasonable job too, was surprised how well it cuts. So long as it lasts a year it'll be worth it!

Where did you get your Hypertherm from? The only importer i know of is MS Welding up near Leeds.

I live in the U.S. so no problem getting the Hypertherm.

As I was reminded of the sometimes arse aching process of vectorising bitmaps
I've just had a quick play with vector magic and it seems to work pretty well
I did the below bitmap to vector in 1-2 minutes on the basic/numpty level.

This vector isn't detailed enough for carving nor suitable for plasma (stencil) profiles as it is of course but what I do like is how well it removes noise.
Weeding out noisy vectors was often a bloody chore for me when trying to get a good noise to detail balance and I abandoned a few projects in frustration because of it

Cleaning up a vectorized bitmap can be more time consuming than simply tracing over it. When creating a 2D dxf file for plasma cutting, the line locations must be massaged to ensure adequate clearances and spacing. This was necessary with bike shapes above.

I have a web page that shows these bikes. I update the page as they are completed and painted.

I liked the ridealong tour of the train set!
Sound effects too
Cool

Mind you it did seem to get a bit too fast at the end
You want to watch out or you'll get the NTSB after you

I see you snuck a Bates motel in there Smile

One of the benefits of CNC plasma cutting is that we can let our imaginations run wild.

Sonny Routt twin Triumph drag bike

Vincent engine in a rigid frame Triumph Thunderbird

Hayabusa engine with twin S&S carbs in a Norton Commando
