Flueless gas fire - wall hung

Looking to (eventually) replace the 1970s gas fire front of my now decommissioned Baxi Bermuda.

Yep, got one.

Chucks out lots of heat, works well but you do need ventilation in the room as you do get water vapour as a by-product

yeah had a couple, as above really

they look nice and chuck out a load of heat, as pan rider mentioned you need a vent

the last one I had needed a 100cm vent, only problem I found was that in winter the vent made the room cold, you also could hear people walking past chatting and it made a noise in strong winds. I believe you can get vents with baffles in that might reduce the noise some what

Thanks guys.. Yes I think they are all catalytic. I spotted a couple of SMEG branded ones on ebay but I think they are Focal Point rebrands.

I have a (2 brick!) vent already for the open flue Baxi Bermuda that is now decommissioned and yes the wind does howl through so it is currently taped up.
I read that some have oxy sensors that cut it out if there's not enough air supply which I doubt will be an issue on my case since there's no
door on the knock through kitchen/diner to the hall/stairs etc.. (30s design semi).

Condensation is a concern since there no flue for the products of combustion - you might think there'd be one to buy with a built-in condenser..

Has Sir considered a bio ethanol burner???

They don't have to look out of place unless they in a $15million Manhattan bedsit, nor do they have to look like Al Pacino's cauldron in The Devils Advocate.

No flue required, totally smokeless & you don't notice any room aroma unless you walk into one from outside.

Butler Towers has a snug / reading area by a BIG window where we opened up the old fireplace but left the flue blocked, placed a purpose 1l built tank inside a cast iron grate & smothered that with the type of logs you find in gaslog fires.

Kicks out about 1kw of heat on the few occasions I light it & it's only purpose is to provide the ambience of a natural flame, which it does quite well.
