the last one I had needed a 100cm vent, only problem I found was that in winter the vent made the room cold, you also could hear people walking past chatting and it made a noise in strong winds. I believe you can get vents with baffles in that might reduce the noise some what |
100cm2 right ? so about one brick..
For some reason there's vents everywhere n this house. Another 2 bricker in the bathroom and one in the small bedroom the latter is especially baffling. ____________________ Now: A100, GT250A, XJ598, FZ750

and how much does one of these cost to run? |
We only use it as a feature, not for heating.
I bought this winters fuel,12l for £30 (£2.50per litre). 1/2 litre in the tank lasts approx 2-2.5hrs, (tanks with ceramic wool/sponges may be better). Our tank fits inside a traditional cast grate & gives a 5" wide flickering flame, I'd imagine that the more 'designer' / wider tanks burn more in proportion. I reckon this setup kicks out 1kw of heat, not sure if that scales up to 2kw with 10" wide flame?
Think of the benefits, nothing is better than a real flickering flame, no ashes, no maintenance. The only downsides I can think of is it won't toast bread/marshmallows & you can't chuck any rubbish on (like Jack did the first time he met his mates Gaslog ) The missus puts essential oils in a small pot & places it near the flame, she reckons this comes close to her personal heaven !
Don't get me wrong, I'd put in an open log burner grate or multi fuel stove in tomorrow if it didn't cost norf of £5grand to reopen the chimney & fit the flue . . . . ____________________ I clean my guns with the tears of the snivelling, left wing scum. |
