Laverda Montjuic (for the noise)

I quite often think about these. The noise, and they're very pretty in orange, and because a road test in a magazine fired my imagination over them when I was a kid. But I don't think they'd be very spectacular to actually ride. Only a 500 twin after all.

Suter MMX500? https://raresportbikesforsale.com/featured-listing-2017-suter-mmx500-for-sale/

For myself, I've been thinking about this one for a few days, and the only thing I can come up with is a Honda CT125. https://www.sevenseasmotors.com/bike-detail/Honda-CT125-35048/

But I have absolutely no good reason for having one, they're import only (and £4500+), and I don't even commute these days. Hasn't stopped me having fantasies of buying one in Thailand (where they're sold for £1900) and riding it back to the UK. But even if I wanted a specific low-capacity long distance overlanding bike, buying a CRF250L Rally second-hand seems like a better idea. Confused

When I was a kid, a mate's older brother used to have an Alpina, which for those too young to remember was the bike the Montjuic was based upon. It had very naughty pipes and made a lovely racket!!! Hence my wanting a 'Monty' Very Happy

I had an Alpina (or it might have been an Alpino - I was never sure) but with standard pipes. I was on the hunt for a Le Mans but they were too dear for me - I think I paid about 1400 for it and it would have been just a few years old in the late 80s early 90s It wasn't the worst but nothing outstanding decent enough torque but a bit of a brute in corners. Took it to IOM in 1997 and met someone with a 350 version -might have been Austrian) on the journey home I was into a headwind. It struggled to keep up 80 on the M6 IIRC.

Your surname isn't Laine by any chance, is it?

The other one for me based on the noise was a guy locally who had a bright red Benelli 900 Sei. His had the same nose cone as the Le Mans Mk1, but the racket was unbelievable on that IL6 engine, I loved it.
If he lived near me with that now, I'd probably get fed up with it pretty quickly Laughing

As in Cleo? No.

Although I did nearly sell my house to Cleo Laine's daughter Jacqui and her American guitarist husband - small world eh?
