Hello
Kawasaki KH / H1 / H2 etc model

Can anyone settle an argument relating to the fitting of baffles tubes in relation to the silencer internal baffle plates.

So, 30 years plus silencers that have had the baffles tube in and out God knows how many times, so tubes are worn and covered in carbon, baffles plates likewise and central holes enlarged due to baffles being ragged in and out.

Friend of mine insists that the baffle tube must be an interference fit into the baffle plate nearest to the engine. Is this correct and how is that going to happen with all the wear and tear over the years ?

Looking forward to your comments.

I see his point but we are not talking the height of 2t technology here, it’s not far of being three lawnmower engines bolted together. As long as all three pipes have the correct baffles and everything is clean then I can’t see there being a problem.

If you look at a cut open pipe of one of the H series pipes you will see that the silencer is in fact an expansion pipe , so yes in theory the removable baffle tube is indeed the tail pipe of the chamber, but for practical manufacturing and ease of removal it is not a good fit in the first baffle which forms the front of the silencer part of the system.
I do not use standard pipes on my machines but instead use after market silenced expansion pipes.

Bloody hell mate, I spat my rum out there. Don't say that on a Kwak forum, they'll burn you at the stake. Laughing

Pick the middle stake. They never run properly.

It's fact though. Aircooled, piston ported, no CNC control of timing or carbs, low state of tune. A bit of blow by over the exhaust baffle isn't going to be a deal breaker.
