In my never-ending quest for a set of waterproof gloves, I have come up with the best effort to-date.

From Hein Gerike. They have a neoprene inner glove which is stitched in and fastens inside your jacket, the outer is made from gore-tex and has an armoured cuff that velcros round the outside of your jacket. The only one I have ever come accross that has both an inner and outer cuff.

I rode for five hours in constantly rainy conditions yesterday and arived at the other end with warm, dry hands Smile . There was a small amount of leaking where water had run down the underside of the glove, got under the velcro bit of the cuff and up my sleeve but considering the weather I had just ridden through, I was prepared to forgive a slightly damp wrist.

The other good point is that the cuffs act as wrist supports, I have a bit of mild arthritis in one wrist following a bike crash a few years back which can get uncomfortable if I have to use the clutch repeatedly for a long time (over three hours). The gloves took a lot of the load off this part and generally made the ride home a lot more comfortable that it would have been, especially considering the large amount of steering input to keep the thing on the road in high winds.

I have looked on the website and can't find them there so I reckon you would have to go to a shop. They are about 60 quid which is more than I have ever spent on a pair of gloves before but if they keep my hands that warm and dry through the winter, I will consider it a good investment. Thumbs Up

I could do with a waterproof pair of gloves as my IXS ones bought from the NEC in 2002 have taking a liking to soaking up rain water, so I feel a trip to Hein Gericke in Preston or Salford is in order Smile.

Yah, the Gericke gloves are usually quite good.
They also do a pair that are superb winter (december through febuary riding) gloves, look a little odd as there are only two 'fingers' but I was riding all day every day in them. Even on long motorway trips there was no problem with cold. And as you so succinctly pointed out, as long as the cuffs are tucked inside the sleeve there was never any issue with damp either.

I have some Frank Thomas WP's and they're great. Ridden for hours and hours in the rain and they've never soaked through. The only problem I have is the inner glove has come away on one of them Sad
