Nuffins never easy
So this guy drops off his deliberoo scoot cos he dropped it and one of the three bolts
holding the box carrier to the frame had sheared off and it had gone all wobbly.
Drilling out drove the remnant out luckily so no need to drill/Helicoil etc.
What was an arsache (as usual) was removing the feckin plastics!!
I'd recently changed the drive belt and rollers plus air filter and remarked it was probably time for a
new plug too.
( 2019 Honda SH125 mode with 25,000 on the clock btw)
He dropped one off with the scoot so my socket just managed to get in there and whip the old one out
Normally, I start a plug with finger and thumb then only use the socket for final nipping up
so as to avoid cross threading
Couldn't get my hand in there so had to start with the socket and immediately felt it wasn't right.
The lip of the head was pushing the socket off axis and would have cross threaded it if forced
so bollox, it was the only thing of that size I had.
I couldn't find anything like thin wall pipe or tubing to press into service so
rotted through my heat shrink box and found some clear stuff that might just do.
It shrunk down nicely and when cooled was stiff-ish enough to allow me to present
the plug to the hole and run it in 98% of the way then do a final nip with the socket.
Another 'ten minute' job

It's possible that if those two 'tits' on the lip of the of head
had not been there,
my socket may well have been able to line up the plug

I've used scrap vacuum tubing around the ceramic insulator to accomplish the same function as your shrink wrap. Threads the plug in with one hand, and slides off easily. ____________________ History shows again and again how nature points out the folly of men - BOC |
