there is no hi saying place - never understood it, me sen but eh
i agree with getting a 125 - it's what i did and it definitely helped in all aspects - some say it doesn't
if you can hack the ergos of the YBR, I'd probably go for that tbh - even though it WILL feel cramped....i think it may prove more reliable? parts might be easier to get too, and cheaper
i don't know any of this closed circuit stuff you're on about - over here it's Mod 1....do you mean that?

that's an excellent point, and you are right that the 125 is just temporary and the means to an end.
but there's also another argument for enjoying every part of the journey |

I agree, and if there were genuinely enjoyable bikes within the 14.5hp limit, I would recommend them. But there aren't, really, other than in the sense that any powered 2 wheeler is enjoyable. You used to be able to get 2-stroke 125s with 25hp that would do 90mph and were really quite fun, but they're all ancient now, becoming collectors items, and wouldn't be legal anyway.
If you really really don't want a YBR or a CB125F or similar, and you're worried about being taller, you could have a look for a Honda XL125 Varadero. They're bigger and comfier than most 125s, well made, and have a relatively refined v-twin engine. The downside (in the UK at least) is they're rarer, more expensive, and they haven't been sold since 2009. ____________________ Current - '94 VFR750FR, '00 VFR800FI Previous - '10 Street Triple R, '92 MZ ETZ301, '05 TTR250, NSR125R, KMX125, "Honda" Win (chinese copy of an old Honda design with a C90 engine)

If I was 17 that would be the one I'd lust after but my Dad would insist on the YBR.. If Derbi's are plentiful and cheapish in Spain (and I guess they should be more so that UK) then why not? Otherwise take Dad's choice. ____________________ Now: A100, GT250A, XJ598, FZ750

I bought a YBR for tooling around country backroads here in Morocco. I'm just a little smaller than you at 6'0", with a 32 inch inseam. The footpeg placement on the YBR puts the rider in a comfortable, relaxed position. The YBR does not feel cramped at all. ____________________ History shows again and again how nature points out the folly of men - BOC |
