Hello! In light of gas prices climbing the Everest, I've decided that I should take it easy on driving and buy myself a bike. Can anyone suggest something cheap for a starter? I intend to use it in a city.

Do you have a full licence, or are you looking at doing a CBT and riding a 125?
I don't have any recommendations for you, but the above info will guide the suggestions others may make.

I'm by no means the most experience on here, but I reckon the quickest and easiest and cheapest and most practical route for motorbiking around the city is to stick with your B licence, get a 125 and do your CBT.
The 125 will be cheaper and easy to handle and its smaller size will make maneouvering around and through traffic will be a doddle.
If the bug bites you, then yiou can always take your time to take your A2 and get a bigger bike. A few months experience on a 125 will make that much easier as well.
so... 125... win win!

Never mind licences... judging by his other post today the question should be does the OP want a bike with, er, an engine or one with pedals? Rolling Eyes

But yes, the impending inbound spam sensors are twitching wildly here...

If you just want cheap transport and that's all, do the CBT get a 125 twist and go scoot.
If you want to develop skills to get a license for bigger bikes then a geared 125 will help with that.

A geared bike in a busy city will have you tap dancing on the gear change going up and down the gear box with hundreds of clutch operations a day.
Neither is better than the other, its about selecting the best tool for the job.

Both will give road/traffic experience and similar SMIDSY incidents

This is the reason I am actually considering a scoot over getting a 300 - 500cc commuter bike, plus the scoot has under-seat storage for my dildos and I'll feel the air up my skirt. Win-win.

After years of bike ownership I now own my first scoot
I've ridden lots, usually for road tests and mainly 125 but never
had one of my own.
Ok its an old 250 majesty and wont get the pulse racing but it's cost me virtually fuck all as I flipped the 2018 Vision I was given and sorted
out for it
I'm rather enjoying it and city riding is much more relaxed

i have to agree, that for city riding nothing beats a twist and go. i used to have a scooter but it got consumed by fire. now i have my geared 125 as i'm taking my A2, and i'm definitely getting a hell of a lot of gear changing practice.

the twisties beat me off the lights every single time.
