I'm not sure if this should have gone in the new biker bit, but I thought I'd stick it here anyway.

I wouldn't say my ears are especially large but they do stick out at a bit of a jaunty angle. Every time I put my helmet on I have to spend an age sticking a finger in, trying to get my ears comfortable... then eventually giving up and just putting up with it.

When I was wearing the jet style helmet it was a bit easier, but with the full face I'm obliged to wear for the A2 classes its a bit of a nightmare.

Do any other sub-optimally eared riders have tips or techniques for optimum comfort?

You need to just practice the technique of 'flipping the folded ear'. It takes a while but eventually you'll get it. Even the largest eared individual will be able to fit them into the gap in the helmet I'm sure.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Any links to a youtube video tutorial on that technique?

I keep a plastic 'lolly stick' looking thing precisely for this purpose. I only get ear fold in my lid with the sena kit inside.
Think I may have written ear-pal™ on it in black marker pen. Laughing

I guess I should have thought more carefully about the title for this thread, as I'm now getting inundated with adverts for furry rubbish to stick on my lid. The last thing I need is more ears...

Its slightly comforting to see that this is a fairly widespread issue and not just me, but concerning for the fact that there is no instant solution.

Nope. I even had a set on my helmet years ago for a laugh. Took them off PDQ though cos at any sort of speed your head was just flapping around cos of the drag off them.

I had this problem more with a new helmet. Much better after it's worn in a bit and you're used to getting it on your noggin.

Isn't this down to the individual helmet, and the space it allows for your ears?

Also - when putting my helmet on I kind of 'rotate' it on rather than just pushing it down from the top - think that helps?

Noooo! Laughing

Rotate it front to back; ie offer the lid up to your forehead and then tip it over the back of your head, kind-of-thing...

I wear a buff neck tube as a skull cap which significantly reduces ear flip, and keeps the inside of the lid nice and clean.

I've only had an issue with ears since putting speakers inside the helmet (Schuberth S2), and I could probably reduce it by recessing the speakers into the foam a little. I still need to "pull" the helmet wide as I put it on, which I never had to do on my previous Arai or Nolan helmets.
