Reminds me, I have been watching some "classic" cartoons with my 1 y/o son and I've been quite surprised at some of the dark undercurrents in some of them, e.g. Thomas the Tank engine where it seems quite common for there to be some sort of mass-organised bullying and victimisation going on. Mind you, I'd rather him watch that than the ridiculously "over represented" new version with flying trains and stupid songs.

I caught a glimpse of that for the first time in at least 30 years the other day when I was doing some enforced toddler socialising... they had a new engine who was not only female, but also African! Didn't stay long enough to learn her, sorry, their, sexuality. Outrageous stuff... everyone knows engines are white, male and English and the coaches are inane chattering females, innit? It's all Brexit's fault. Or is it Covid's?

Nope, it's The Donk's and Val's fault.

You mean the one with the delish Lily James?
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=uHKiALEzLY8

Didn't even know it was for Sky. Wub

The most annoying Sky ad is this one.

https://youtu.be/Z54k93EWpRM

Overdub a four cylinder bike soundtrack instead of sampling the gloriousness of a v-twin RC8?! Fuck you Sky. JUST.FUCK.YOU!

I dont know who Lily James is but having perky tits is not a get out clause.

Anything with Idris Elba acting being himself is annoying.

They're hardly what I would descrble as 'perky'. Virtually non-existant is probably the closest that springs to mind.

Not telly but disturbing, BCF ad banners keep popping up Long Tall Sally ads, apparently "clothing for tall women". Im tall but not a woman or planning to identify as such anytime soon, or does the algorithm know things about me I'm yet to become aware of myself? Shocked

Do yourselves a favour and turn off the TV. You'll feel better for it.

Glad I'm not the only one that remembers that! I recall they weren't that bad probably too expensive!

I did go through a brief phase of having them at work (occasionally, too expensive for all the time). They did make a better coffee than instant for those of us stuck in some remote depot with nothing more than a kettle and a tired 'fridge. These days the banter washes over me and I just have a cafetiere at work; worth it for coffee that tastes like coffee.

An advert that made me laugh the first time I saw it but after the 20th or whatever time is now annoying....

The weetabix advert with the wolf and the 3 little pigs.

Anything that chunters on about improving Credit Scores, which I'm pretty sure didn't exist 25 years ago, another hateful affectation of the 21st century.

Oh good shout. That Experian boost where you can boost your credit score at the touch of a button. Idiot sitting in vets with a goldfish bowl and boosts his score with a launch into space. What utter rubbish.

How many people are doing that thinking it's going to make them suddenly credit worthy Rolling Eyes

It's all so manipulative. Last year me and my brother were trying to explain to his kid how its all bolloks and whats more important is a regular wage and knowing how to save. It was like talking to a brick wall. The youth are subjected to so much marketing which is bloody sinister in how well coordinated it is, its depressing.

World money is fake. We exist on promises. The cuntries who can promise most are more or less the richest.

Soooo why should we savem

Get stuck into the debt market.
Then when you dont pay it off, reorganise it so you dont have to pay it for longer.
Then when it's longer... bla bla bla.

Thats the model young folk have learned to follow.

FFS! a bloody TV ad made me cry today!

It was for a prostate cancer charity (I think) - due to being close to Fathers' Day, it reminded the audience about how great it was to have a dad, and how you would miss him if he was gone.

I blubbed Laughing
