Meh, so many musicians get topped by overdose it's almost commonplace and isn't really a sign of devil may care attitude anymore.

To show really debauchery these days they need to do the full Michael Hutchence and die by strangle wank gone wrong.

A rock drummer, in his room, in a hotel in Bogata, Columbia dies suffering from chest pains.

And the conclusion you jump to is coronavirus vaccines?

I jumped to an entirely different, but still pharmecutical-related conclusion.

According to some of the Press he had 10 'substances' in his system and his heart was twice the normal size. Now, I'm no pathologist but that smacks of burning one's candle from both ends....

Refined drugs, they're bad... m'kay.

Something basic like magic mushrooms or marijuana you'd think - in the opinion of evolutionary biologists - that ppl would have evolved away from if they were such a bad thing in a similar fashion to northern European peoples developing lactose tolerance. i.e. it's a feature not a bug to be tripping balls on 'shrooms Thinking

Refined drugs - speed, heroin, cocaine... beer Shocked - are not naturally occurring things so human biology can be forgiven for being ill prepared. We can probably give alcohol fermentation a special dispensation as it's possibly existed for the same amount of time as lactose tolerance.

Lactose tolerance in adults was a relatively simple transition since infants are necessarily tolerant. The evolutionary impetus is said to be the domestication of cows, sheep and goats, but are we supposed to imagine that early man put up with stomach ache, diarrhoea and gas in the name of nutrition? “This gives me the squits but I keep drinking it”?

Actually I’m the same with wine so ignore me.

The ability to digest lactose is something you lose only if you don't keep using it. If you keep ingesting lactose, your body keeps producing the necessary enzymes. So if you keep eating it from infancy, you retain the ability to digest it.

I thought it was the gradually decreasing expression of an infant’s gene that literally weaned them off milk and onto other foods.

It was my understanding that at least part of it was that in the absence of lactose, the gene stops being expressed.

Hence why older Japanese people are pretty much automatically lactose intolerant because they don't have a big dairy input in their traditional diet. While the younger generation were brought up on an increasingly Westernised diet and have less of a problem digesting it. Cheese is becoming a big thing in Japan

Ten thousand years of beer and cheese (probably) but Bolivian Marching Powder...

It's hard to say alcohol is not natural. Chimpanzees and elephants are well known for getting pissed deliberately on rotted fruit.

They know that there's sugar in the fruits that have 'made' alcohol.

Primate metabolism deals with alcohol differently from most other animals.
