Hi all,

I'm a long time lurker on this forum and today is the day I decided to join.

I have been taking lessons since before covid times, due to the arrival of children, covid, family bereavments, I'm just getting around to taking my mod 1.

This morning I turned up having attempted mock tests numerous times and not having a problem with them. At no point did I think it was going to be a problem.

Today I turn up, feeling like the test was going to plan, for the emergency stop to bring me to a fail. I exited the corner, hitting the speed trap and up goes the arm. Brakes applied, and for some stupid unknown reason I hit the back brake....

I felt the back end swayed and "apparently" a ploom of rubber smoke bellows from the behind... I could smell it, but couldnt see it. I have no idea why I did it, as i've never done that before, apart from tapping it a little after applying fronts.

The gentleman running the test, signals me to return to the gate, at which point I return inside to be told the above... I failed...

Overconfidence? Nerves? I have no idea. But we'll go again!

MOD 1 tests in these parts are few and far between but it won't beat me! Hopefully, and fingers crossed I'll be amongst you soon.

Ride safe and I look forward to contributing Smile

Stick to it. I failed Mod 1 twice last year before passing on the third attempt and passing Mod 2 two days later. Like you, my first failure was on the emergency stop, 47kph on the first attempt, sent around again and forgot to apply the front brake at all on that go. One very gentle stop and, as you said, straight to the gate.

Mod 2 was far less nerve wracking.

Treat it as your practice run. You'll be alright next time.

I failed

Unfortunate mate, these things happen. I done perfect in every practice session until my first MOD 1 and I put my foot down in the figure of eight. Might have been nerves, could be anything.

What I can tell you is that your mind-set going in the second time will be completely different. You know you can fail and failure doesn't stop you trying again anymore.

I guarantee you will go into your next MOD 1 way more positively than you did in the last one.

Good luck mate, you'll pass next time!

It’s definitely not cheap doing it through a school. My re-sit cost me £150 Shocked

Don't think of it as a fail, think of it as you didn't pass.
