Got this shed, right.
Needs cleaning out.
Part of getting my shit together.

Got a bit of old bike stuff in there.

Its an XJ900 diversion lump (possibly half a frame x 2, don't ask)
Been out in the weather since 2007.

... and most of a super tenere 750, all in bits, been in a shed, but door was left open for several winters.

All rusted/corroded as fuck.
Holes were not stuffed with rags or any kind of preventative maintenance. Christ only knows where the V5s are Rolling Eyes

Its 12-15 years later.
I'm not gonna do it.
Wasting my money on bad men and motorcycles, meh.
They were fun at the time.
I have to move on.

I know what it COULD have been.
Don't need the lectures, thanks, and not sniffing for offers - I just want to know how I go about getting rid? ebay, marketplace, whats the best place for shite like that, these days?

Calling Steptoe springs to mind.

Call it a barn find, say it just needs an MOT but will easily pass, and retire to the Bahamas.

Old?
Rusty?
Thas 'classic' then innit ?

If you want munnies stick it on Ebay or Gumtree
Spares/Repair/Project
Don't forget the 'runs perfick', 'jus needs', 'barn find'
'reluctant sale', 'sad to see it go', 'turn heads'
'aint not nicked nor nuffin' and all the usual bollox.

If there are any bike breakers in your area
they'll probably have it off you but wont offer much in term of cash

If you just want shot of it, offer it up on Freecycle type pages
with the proviso "it all goes as one lot, no cherry picking !"

eBay 99p no reserve job lot listed as for parts or not working.

Lots of high resolution photos of the stuff on a sunny day in good light so people can see as much as possible of what's there.

Facebook only works if you know how much what you're selling is worth.

If you can get the Tenere bolted together loosely as a rolling non-runner, you will command a better asking price on Ebay than for a bunch of parts in boxes, because everyone has £100 for a Shiply delivery, but not everyone has a van of their own.

TBH from the description given that lot doesn't even sound like it's worth the effort involved in a 99p start eBay listing, and all the mouth-breathing mongs that'll bring out of the woodwork.

Either weigh it in, or - if you can't be arsed - stuff it in the black bin over a period of weeks. Please do us all a favour, and don't encourage the continued existence of pikeys by leaving it at the end of the drive, though.

Divvy engine will probably sell for spares. Shaft drive so some trike builder can use it for a mock-up.

I would hire a skip and throw it all in followed by the shed.
Or get someone to do it. Thumbs Up
Life is too short for 99p ebay sales

Scrappies usually collect for free if you leave it in an accessible place.

Noooh! A skip will be a couple of hundred. My vote is ebay as 'Barn Find', 'Project' 'Spares/Repairs' on Ebay.

Divide the stuff between Divvy and Tenere and sell in two lots £99 start money to ensure you get 'something' worthwhile.

If you have the reg plates then new owner can sort their own V5s.. Not sure assembling is worth it either. I once picked up an XJ550 in boxes in my hatchback car which wouldn't have fitted if rolling chassis!

Cheers

Where abouts would this shed of rusty junk be? I might be interested in swapping the tenere for a couple of bottles of your choice of spirit if its not too far away. I could do with a pile of rust to keep me out of the pub on weekends Laughing Could probably shift the XJ9 bits for you too and send the coin back your way if you want it all gone in one hit.

Two methods I would try.

First one - stick a post up on here saying it's free, but whoever wants it must turn up by [date], with a suitable vehicle, and take all of it. For them its a bike, for you it's scrap.
That should give you the best chance of getting it gone.

Second - stick it on ebay and see what happens. More chance of people cocking around, expect to be doing 2nd or 3rd chance offers to get it gone, but it is likely to provide an amount of money in the low hundreds.

Despite having been vaguely interested in the Tenere for years, I'm not doing it. I already have two bikes I never ride and no space left.

And the rest in London. £250 for a skip with just clean concrete in it and that's on regular contract. You're not allowed to put tyres in them anyway so that'll be extra.

If you really can't be arsed, then just dump it on your driveway.

Around here old fridges/washing machines/metal etc vanishes in hours that way.

I helped my mate extract an old rusty Suzuki trail bike frame, petrol tank, wheels and mudguards from a collapsed shed at his late Dad's house. He rang up a bloke who buys old bike bits who was straight down to buy it for a few hundred quid and take it away.

The next time I saw it a few weeks later it was up for sale at the Copdock bike show. I have his number on my phone if you want it, he left a message asking me about one of my old bikes a little while ago after I spoke to him at an autojumble.

Any pictures would help determine if its best to leave for the scrappies or to sell. If the super ten is salvageable it will certainly have some interest.

Sometimes things carry more weight than an outsider might suspect. In which case let it go - no need for sentimentality. I'm looking for a project bike at the moment, but there is no shortage in the present market. If Hellkat wants to devote mental energy towards other, newer, things, then I can understand that.

What yo talkin' 'bout, Willis?

Never mind yer blue bin, around here the scrap man will have it away in minutes.

Last year I paid to have our old washing machine removed. I dumped it on the drive and it was gone before the official bloke even arrived. Laughing
