hi,

ive managed to get it to pair, i think, but the light doesnt come on on the scanner box. weird. ive checked pin 16 and there is power. so it isnt the cable, fuse or a power problem. its an obd ii scanner and i bought it from a reputable dealer on ebay. i hope its not a fake. any suggestions?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284192696000?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3Dc8343a53a9b34cea8e654ec89b284a57%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D283645981441%26itm%3D284192696000%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3A2a877fc1-ddcd-11ec-b5c6-a265ee824b54%7Cparentrq%3A0604af481810a7b30b52fc25fffc1450%7Ciid%3A14

ive also tried 2 different apps and i get the same result. cannot connect... one was recommended on the box it came in and the other was recommended on the ebay page...

You are following the instructions on how to connect via bluetooth? I have the same one and it works perfectly.

Once paired have you tried interrogating it with the app?

Just because you paired it doesn't mean its talking to the bikes ECU
so it'll probably do jack shit until/unless it does.

Is your app set to use Bluetooth or wireless?

Right... First things.

The OBDII reader for nine Quid will be a very very basic code reader.
OBDII readers and the info contained in vehicle electronics must be available to vehicle owners.

The more dough you invest in a reader the more competent/capable the reader will be.

Depending on what you are plugged into can determine what you can see (and possibly change)

Snapon (for example) makebvery very good readers that can poke about almost 90% of vehicle systems and allow changes (where changes are permitted)

But they beasts cost a fecking fortune.

The second thing is what software you are using to BT connect to the reader.

I have a 6 quid reader and probably tried 6 different apps to read the hoowur with very.limited success.

OBD2 Scan master.

OBDII Check (Torque lite) is the best one on several vehicles.

I cant see enough in any vehicle to makebthe apps worth a payment for more functions as the 6 quid reader is shite.

Try more apps. (All the apps) and see if one or more connect with better success.

I use my 6 quid reader and the OBDII Check Torque Lite on several makes of works vehicles. It lets me maybe read some codes. But not switch anything on the vehilce.

Some readers wont see ever module either.

If you're using an iPhone as well, you'll have much less success than with Android as apple dictate Bluetooth 4 for a lot of things, and lots of OBD2 readers only support v3. Had this myself, actually on one that looked very similar to the one in the link.

I've also ran into this problem with Bluetooth compatibility on iPhone, OP you should double check as this might be the problem.
