hope someone can give me a few pointers.

is it normal to get pains on the wrist/hand after few stop/starts in town riding or is my clutch level too hard and needs to be looked at?

Hmm? Either your clutch is to harsh? Or you’re a limp wristed girl Shocked !

On a serious note , it is not uncommon for some people to get a bit of discomfort in the wrist after prolonged bouts of town riding, particularly when riding sports styled bikes.
That’s because you’re leaning forward and more of your weight is on your wrists.
OR your bike just happens to have a heavy clutch?

I have a problem with my left wrist. I have a foreshortened Ulna, which means my wrist is not correctly connected to my hand. Most of the time it's not an issue, but when riding bikes it can cause weird pains. What I have to do is as follows:

Arrow Not wear a watch - It makes a huge difference

Arrow Not do my cuff or glove up too tight - Tight enough that it won't come off in an accident but not so tight that it's pinching in any way.

There are also bike things you can check:

Arrow Make sure the clutch cable is well lubricated, a binding cable will cause all sorts of problems

Arrow If it's a hydraulic clutch, see if Oberon do a slave cylinder that makes the action lighter.

Arrow On some Buells (and Harleys I'm guessing) you can get something called a Muller Power clutch that reduces the stiffness of the clutch action.

Arrow On some cable clutch bikes you can get a Magura conversion kit that allows you to have a hydraulic clutch. It's a really easy fit in most cases and makes a huge difference.

I've also got one of these (medium):

I trained with this every few days for a while and it increased my grip strength a bit. I don't really use it these days but I'll have to dig it out again because I just damaged my wrist in an accident.

Make sure your lever isn't set too high which would make your wrist bend back too much. It might help to rotate it down a bit so your hand and arm are more in a straight line when your hand is on the lever.

Good answers above. In addition, if your levers are reach adjustable, see if you can pull them in a bit too. Do you have any wrist pain in any other situation? Guitarists quite often suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome for example which I imagine would be experienced on the bike too if you're suffering from it.

No pains in any other activities so it is only to do with the clutch lever or how it is set up.

I doubt the pull strength on a CBF600 is all that. Certainly you wouldn't want the clutch on the old T140 I'm currently working on Shocked

I'd have a think about getting some adjustable aftermarket levers and optimising the angle, bite point etc. The stock levers on my XSR were okay but the levers I currently have are lovely.

I wear a wrist brace when I'm doing trials due to an old break in my left wrist. Fits under my glove and seems to help.

I also push the bars on my sports tourer out as close to flat as I can get them so the lever JUST touches the fairing on full lock. On a honda, this may involve filing a tage off the clip-on that engages in the to yoke.

I landed up fitting flat bars to Mrs stinkwheels CBR600F. This was not entirely straightforwards.

Build the muscles in your left wrist by a repetitive daily work out, it worked for your right.

Have I missed what bike he owns? If it's a dry clutch Ducati, it's normal, Mr. Green

One of my K100s had a clutch that was a literal pain
Bung on the clutch cable, drape it over the tank to the lever,
Not bad.
Route it through the body umpteen times in many different ways
and it was orrible
New Featherlite cable too.
Mind you, the actuator shaft at the back had needle bearings notorious for seizing and playing up which didnt help.
I remember being at a rally near Sligo and a bunch of us trying to fix it.
