Hi All.

I’ve neglected the bike for a while, but looking to get it back to its former glory. Planning on stripping everything down and giving it a once over.

I tried to start it up today but noticed when I put the fuel tap on, fuel was leaking out of this open port on the carb - see attached picture.

Could anyone tell me why this would be happening and if I’m missing a pipe somewhere ? Bear in mind it stood unused for quite some time so wouldn’t be surprised if the carb is clogged and it’s an overflow ?

It’s a Dellorto Carb on a Motorhispania Furia 50.

Thanks!

I have no experience of delorto carbs but from what you're describing, it almost certainly is an overflow. Most likely either the needle valve is gummed up or the float is stuck or punctured which means there's nothing shutting off the fuel flow when the float bowl is full.

As Stinkwheel suggests. Float neddle gummed up. Petrol evaporates and leaves lots of residue. Crystalline and gummy. Carb cleaner removes most of it.
Strip down and clean out.
Hope there are no rubber parts that sometimes can shrink when dried out.

Carb cleaner is not the best stuff to breath or get in contact with skin. It can be absorbe through skin.
Gloves job.

Thanks both, will plan to remove and strip down and give it a thorough clean.

Last time it did start up, it wanted to rev extremely high constantly so I think it was due a good clean at that point too ..

Cheers.

Get decent carb cleaner. Just wafting WD40 at it won't do much Smile
