Hello everyone!

Bit of a background. I hadn’t ridden for around 5 years, my previous bike before I stopped riding was a CBR1000RR, I did like it but towards the end I just didn’t have time to use the bike so it got sold. Roll on 5 years, life has calmed down and I’m finally back on two wheels.

I actually ordered a Ducati V2 but the delivery time was looking like 2023 so I decided to pick up a bike in the interim. I really wanted a litre bike but I was a bit worried that with the time off it would be wise to start off on something slower and work my way up. I picked up a 2016 ZX6R around 2 weeks ago but I’m getting buyers remorse. Got a great price on it and it’s a brilliant bike with some good mods in great condition, but I’d forgotten how little low end and mid range 600 supersports had.

I’ve changed the V2 order to a V4 after riding both, but I really want to swap the ZX6R to a litre bike on the meantime until the V4 arrives next year. I don’t really want to spend more than £8k as I will only be using it for 6-7 months.

I’ve shortlisted the following:

2013+ CBR1000RR - Can get a nice one within budget, they ride well but I always found my old one was lacking character, but still a great bike.

2012 RSV4 Factory APRC - Always loved the RSV4, but for this price it’s probably going to be a bit ropey. I have found a 2012 bike for £8k with 9400 miles on it, race ECU, full exhaust and a few other bits, just concerned with potential issues.

2012+ S1000RR - Will be quite a high mileage example, probably 20,000 miles+ for this price and I’ve never been sold on the strange headlights, but I understand they are a great bike.

Riding will be 70/30 street to track.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Heart is saying RSV4 but head is saying this is a stupid idea…!

I say go with your gut. Rsv4. Such a good looking bike. They seem to not hold value as much as other bikes so great deals are out there.

Just for looks sake I would go with the Aprilia. The winking-eye look of the S1000RR looks shit to me.

Very nice getting the Panigale V4. If it wasn't for the fact I am way to fat to ride a Ducati comfortably, I would give one a consideration but I actually like the SuperSport 950 for looks over the Panigale Embarassed

That's always been my issue with CBRs as well. They're very well made and good to ride, but they lack "personality". Have a look at GSXRs - same build quality but way more fun.
