I think that might raise a few suspicions...

Gove has turned on Bojo now. Mind you he's got form for that and an eye on the job...

When Gove stabbed him in the back in the 2016 leadership campaign, he said it was because he had decided Johnson was 'unfit' to be PM.

Well, say what you like about Gove, but he called that right, didn't he?

It was bound to end this way really. Did anyone other than Johnson think his end would be dignified?

Don’t they always leave under a cloud though? It’s a poisoned chalice. The only way for a PM to leave with dignity is death in office.

Ohhh interesting, maybe a webley revolver with a single round next to a bottle of Johhny Walker black label conveniently left in the PMs office tonight? Shocked

The best you could hope for in that scenario is that he'd shoot himself in the foot, probably whilst pretending to be some gun-toting Hollywood hero.

Blair didn't, and he got out at just the right time...

Obviously retrospectively his premiership was pretty horrific.

Just wanted to add: and that's before he drinks the whiskey.

The word on the street is that Beergate fines were issued to Sir Kneeler and the Ginger Growler on 04/07/2022.
Appeals are said to have been lodged and super-injunctions put in place to muzzle the media.

It's pointless booting Boris out because it will lead to an election that they are unable to win. Rishi McNuggets and his mates have a seriously over estimated their own popularity, it must be all that time at private school? On the plus side it will be the end of the Tory party which is totally fake party which stands for basically nothing. Once they are gone Labour won't be far behind as the only thing keeping them alive is the other. Then people can vote for what they want, rather than against who they don't want (i.e for the least bad option).

She'll probably spit rather than swallow.

Whats Nadine Dorries angle? Is she just the sad girl nobody wants to dance but who clings to the fantasy that Boris will take her up thr aisle one day just as long as she stays loyal?

Can't wait for ever. I find it hard to see how he can avoid the fine.

Him resigning is all on him. He's a big mouth. He didn't need to brag that he would resign but he was such a reckless chancer that he thought it was worth it Laughing

It was a fucking working dinner.

Not a party. Eating whist still working so you don't waste too much time.

There's a whole section of civi service rules that were never varied during during the lockdown period covering when and how much.

It’s like Starmer had never heard of video-conferencing.

If the police fine Starmer it works out fine for him. He can make great PR keeping his word and falling on his sword then hand over the leadership. He's not an egotistical fantasist looking to live out some dramatic bio-pic narative arc like Johnson, Starmer just wants to see the Labour party in No 10.

Nonsense, when it looked like he was in trouble too he had nowhere to go without looking like a hypocrite, so he gambled that he’d get a few words of advice rather than a retrospective fine. When the chickens come home to roost he’ll be kicking himself if he decides he’s got to go through with his promise, or cursing his poor political skills if he welches on it.

And yet there is no fine.

Pretty sure that super injunctions only apply with civil stuff and criminal stuff is considered a matter of public record.
