French refuse to pay for more border staff now how dare they Laughing

Hence the queues at Dover and at Eurotunnel too now.

Seven hours of queues to reach Eurotunnel terminal

British holidaymakers have been warned to allow several hours to get through the Channel border at Dover and Folkestone.

Britsih government rejected to pay 33m to double the capacity of passport checks. Surely french taxpayers must pay for Britain's decisions

It looks like this story from 2016 on same date
https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/french-border-staff-cause-12-8482042
The french love to disrupt ports especially at start of peak holiday season.

We could set up a people smuggling operation to go in the opposite direction Laughing

If we are clever we could build a tunnel to do it rather than risking our lives in the channel.

Not sure I understand. Was it the French who proposed to build and staff 5 extra kiosks at a cost to the UK taxpayer of £33 million, and would that have been either cost-effective or the answer to the problem?

Remember when the Calais migrants were stowing aboard Channel Tunnel traffic to get to Dover? The authorities must have found a way to close that route.

The UK should respond in kind. Make an EU lane at Heathrow and give it 10% of the staff it actually needs, then crank up the heating to maximum in their waiting area. This is just because Macron is scared about his people revolting because his country is overrun with Muslims from North Africa, so he tries to ham up the nationalism a bit.

Besides Val you aren't British anymore anyway so it's not really any of your business. Do you feel proud of your adopted German history? Genociding a couple million innocent men, woman and children on the orders of the Catholic church? Oh, you don't want to talk about it? Imagine my surprise Wink

The EU. Built by standing on the victims of a German genocide.

Not a little unfair to pick on the people when it's their government you have a problem with?

Just ship 'em back to France. Texas are busing illegals to D.C. and it's going down like a lead balloon Smile

It's their own tourist trade they are damaging. Good luck to them.

Just added here beacause, well, eurocrap innit.

Holidaymakers entering Spain could be asked to show they have enough money to fund their trips at the rate of €100 or £85 per day.

£85 a day spanding momey to be allowed into Spain. WTF Shocked Even I can't drink that much rum. I'd get by on £20 a day and save £65 for when I got home. Cool

Make the Spanish prove they can afford to stay in London for their trip at whatever the current rate is, £500 or something.

You know we're never going to do anything like that. We will just wait until this monumental EU hissy fit is finally over, then we'll quietly pick up all their toys and put them back in their prams for them.

I wouldn't say "sadly". It is the British thing to do. If it's not what we do, then I will be more worried in a way.

It's all third countries. I suspect it's to stop people arriving from North Africa "on holiday" with nowhere to stay and £20 in their pocket then disappearing.

The asylumers are difficult to stop.
The rule is that you can transit through non-hostile nations until you reach your honeypot of choice then register as an asylum seeker.
It provides a marvellous incentive for non-hostile states to feed the bastirts but keep them moving along now folks.
There is not mystery.
Make coming to UK the last choice of 'European' cuntries for economic fugees.

Farage you bastirt.

For that to work there needs to be a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow but at the end of the Scotland rainbow, there's one bottle of Iron Bru and a few points of smack.

I didn't say anything about giving them a choice in the matter.

Why bother. They can put all the fugee dinghies to use and sail themselves over.
