Buells? Popular may be up for debate but they were hardly shrinking violets in terms of power and torque output..

Also, the Ducati Xdiavel is a more modern bike with belt drive. It was Ducati’s fastest-accelerating bike at the time it was launched.

They are cleaner and less faff. But race bike have chain.

A well oiled plain roller chain is more efficient than a belt.

Absolutely zero point oiling a chain, that old bollocks has been quite long laid to rest. It was a very lucrative scam for the chain-oil companies while it lasted though.

Because adding a scotoiler to a bike can't literally double the lifespan of a chain or better. Empirical evidence like that is hard to ignore.

Apparently ... my Snarley has been previously converted to a belt drive.

The current discussion at the mechanic shop is whether I want to leave it as a belt drive and have to fuck about with sprockets expensively, or whether to just expensively have it converted back to a chain.

FFS Rolling Eyes

I'm going with staying as-is for now. I've not asked for a quote for converting back to a chain (yet) but its part of the ongoing discussion which can't be held until the [whatever parts] arrive from Germany and Jersey *sigh* wheneverrrrrr

Yes, if you can continually oil the chain (with all the attendant filth involved) it'll make a difference. But the stuff you spray on, it's gone from everywhere it counts within minutes of riding off. The filth it creates isn't though.
