Nice stereotyping. Regardless, they’d rather have Boris on the ballot paper. So would I, he was drummed out for Brexit although it took a while. Now the Tory MPs have excluded all but two candidates, ‘Tax the Poor’ Sunak or the simpleton Truss. The Conservative Party membership should have been given a wider choice.

‘Any Questions’ on Radio 4 last week heard calls for a General Election because ‘they’re voting for our country’s Prime Minister,’ yet the same types were arguing that Boris did not have a personal mandate from the people after the last election because, “We vote for a party, not an individual.’

I think we can all agree, this is no way to choose a PM. At the very least, I'm inclined to think whoever does get the position should be allowed only, say, 6 months, maybe up to 1 year, before we have a GE. Let us see how they operate for a bit, then let us all decide.

The Left’s call for a GE is further countered by a reminder of the Blair-Brown transition.

Tbf, I think you can make a case for having a GE or not having one, and have some sensible points. But if the winning candidate here is going to have their own policy direction that deviates from the manifesto of the last election, then I feel that ought to be voted on by the general public.

No, that's not right. You block policy perhaps (when any of you can be bothered to go into the office Laughing ), but you don't make policy. You're even dumber than our MPs, how could you possibly? Laughing

How does going to the office make me better at accountancy when the people I'm doing it for are all over the uk.and the world.speaking t our national and international partners.

Typically I'm hundreds if not thousands of miles from the person I'm advising or doing the governance for. How does wasting 3/4 of an hour each way add to this?

I'd be using the same laptop with the same headset to talk to them.

Please explain how me travelling 25 miles each way to do exactly what I have done on my sofa for the last 2 years adds anything.

Bear in mind I worked from home for 2 days a week for a few years prior to covid simply because hot desking and desk only available for 3/5 of the week.

In your case it probably doesn't - just employing you in the civil service is enough Razz

Knowing how much even stock-exchange listed companies pay their suppliers* I’d guess that’s a big order for staples. Laughing

* stationery you could buy for pennies at Tesco’s costs pounds from the supplier, I just don’t get it.

So tactical voting? Mordaunt was apparently by far the most popular among party members (I know YouGov...).

What did you propose to buy? Wine? Laughing

Edit: You're AW aren't you? In that case probably something that would otherwise cost £3.6m, but at contractor prices, customised for no real reason, and with key features missing that will later be added for another £10m? Not a dig at you personally, just a point in general Laughing

And this is why I despise polititians. Change their tune at the drop of a hat if they think it will suit them.

Liz Truss tells the Today programme she was "wrong" to back Remain in the 2016 EU referendum

Bollocks she 'has seen the light'. You are either a remainer or a leaver and I very much doubt many have changed their minds. Just have a bit of integrity Ms Truss, you can still be pro remain and be Prime Minister.

I suspect she is far more Brexiteer than Sunak, regardless of how they voted. The difference is that in 2016 she was in the cabinet, and he was a back bencher. Rishi strikes me as a very soft Brexiteer because he only really cares about the economic benefits, not the sovereignty or border control.

I would do it the old fashioned way.

Best of five penalty kicks each.
They could easily rig up a make-shift goal outside No. 10.

At least it would be fair and transparent.

I'd concede to each player/candidate being allowed to wear their tracky-bottoms and trainers.
FIFA rules would apply.
