Well it came in handy when I recently decided to investigate a knocking sound
from the transmission.
I'd had the cover off to check the belt when renovating the scooty
and noticed some broken vanes (hence the above pic)
but it's taken me a while to go back in to see why it often knocked on tick over
The things running well and I kinda got lazy I spose.
Anyway
I took the whole lot off and found the back/roller plate was well worn

The rear/clutch end was all in VGC but the front driven plates had flattened wear areas as well as the broken vanes and knackered roller plate
I pushed the boat out and bought the whole new variator assembly from Italy and
fitted that and no more dodgy noises!.

I trust you'll be loading that worn plate up with some weld, then grinding back to keep as a spare.. Wink

I'm a tight enough bastard to do summat like that Very Happy
and back in the old days might have been forced to.

Never one to throw away anything that might come in useful.
I did include the main casting in an ad hoc upcycle/recycle kind of project
with some 12v MR16 leds, bendy legs from a tablet stand, plywood off cuts and a
salvaged switch to make myself a desklamp for my experimending area
They're all run of a modded atx psu
